It Takes Two To Fill In For Natalie

An observation from watching WCVB's weekday newscasts: the 5 PM news is co-anchored by Natalie Jacobson and Anthony Everett, Natalie anchors solo at 6. When Anthony Everett is on vacation or off on assignment, Natalie anchors solo at 5. However when Natalie is off (as she is today), Liz Bruner co-anchors at 5 and 6. Why do they use 2 anchors to fill in on the 6 PM news that normally has only one anchor? Just curious.

Natalie has taken a crapload of time off in recent months and it's my opinion (my ballsy opinion, no Joe Gallant-type suspecting or wondering) that Natalie will be retiring very soon. Her contract was supposed to be up already or very soon. Anyone know anything about that?? I figured she'd follow Paul LaCamera out the door.

It takes two because, when Natalie leaves, they will go with 2 anchors at 6 (or 1 strong anchor in Ed Harding, he seems to be the rising savior for the 11pm show).

She's hanging out at her mansion on Nantucket all summer and
MC-ing lots of fundraisers down there. Contract's up in the spring.

How much longer can Harding can do the split shift before it
takes a toll on his health?

Her contract is up in about 9 months, which gives the new GM time to formulate plans for the future.

Until they find someone to take his place on the Eyeopener and move him fulltime to 5, 530, or 6 plus the 11. Hopefully, they will also move Liz Brunner back to mornings as well. Cant stand her as an evening/late night anchor. Bring back Heather Kahn. ;o)
