...that WSGN in Birmingham dropped their Top 40 format for adult standards. I was just thinking about the date a few days ago. I remember getting up the morning of February 24, 1984 and hearing big bands and standards on 610. It is the only time, to my knowledge, that Birmingham had three stations programming adult standards concurrently; the other two being WAPI 1070 and WTWG "Stardust 1220". WSGN'S new format, entitled "Real Music" was short-lived, lasting a mere 14 months before the station was sold to.Katz Broadcasting, who owned WZZK-FM.
