It will be Kevin Graham at Entercom-WEEI

His background both in front of and behind the mic, along with his years of digital sports experience made him the best choice to lead WEEI.
Fail !

A very vocal Jets fan shouldn't be anywhere near this market.

They bring in a guy who has programmed a bunch of second string sports stations to run WEEI?!!! This dude has bounced around between so many stations during the past 10 years that it is tough to keep track.

I think 98.5 has absolutely nothing to fear.

Jason Wolfe was also the RKO PD, although the way the station sounds these days, I doubt he spent much time thinking about 680. Is this new guy going to program RKO as well or are they just going to continue to let it run on autopilot? Or will Bill Crooksey be given the PD stripes an the awesome responsibility of deciding who to use as Howie Carrs fill in.

I went on the RKO website the other day and was amazed that they have pics on the first page on the photos page with people who haven't worked there in 4 or 5 years, Why would you still have pics up of Tom Finneran at a station event in 2009.

Gerry C was not particularly subtle when he said yesterday that Graham could jump from management to on-air talent when need be? I don't know if that's ever going to be the case as the station is on thin ice as it is.

But maybe Graham still wants to do a morning show who knows?

Gotta love "Brand Manager". What the HELL is that??? It's "Program Director," guys!! Oh wait....

No it isn't, and hasn't been for years. The old concept of radio as merely studio, transmitter and tower is gone, dead, kaput.

People who are still stuck on "radio" will be, in short order, eating the dust of those who understand that the business is now about "content" and how they get it to their listeners. Hint: Thousands of dollars worth of electricity every month, acres of horizontal real estate or expensive tower space is not the only way to get that content out there, and one day (perhaps not in your lifetime or mine, but sooner than you think) such transmission media will be seen as antiquated and obsolete.

Those changes aren't coming. They're already here. For those in the business: Ignore them at your own peril.

Nope. It's the same concept. Attract the right sets of ears and sell them stuff.

You think paying the bills is a new concept?

Brand manager is just the latest cliche to take hold in an industry in which originality is rarely found . Just like babbling about "content." The only time there isn't "content" is when you're runnnig an unmodulated carrier.

Being a PD in 2013 means that in addition to the on air content, you oversee a website, a smartphone app, streaming, etc. These are all things that can be monetized as well. Your brand extends beyond what's just coming through the speakers. That's the impetus behind some companies not using the term Program Director anymore.
