ITC Delta single deck question

I've been digging the manual and still couldn't find something I believe possible:
I have a Delta triple deck wich it's motor starts uppon cart insertion. I have also 6 single deck Deltas wich their motors starts right after mains connection. What I want is to the motors start as the triple decker (cart insertion) and not running continously. Can you direct me to the page where that option is mentioned (if any)?

Pedro

The 3-D's both Delta and Premuim line were designed to run continuously, the single play decks are the ones with the option to have the moter run only with a cart inserted. You could probably add a second Micro-Switch on top of the existing tray in switches , however since the top two decks slide out and are connected with a DB-15 (I think) connector you would either have to check if there are any extra contacts or have a cable connected at all times. I think the idea was its better to leave them running and up to speed to avoide a Wow-up caused by slapping a cart in and hitting start before the capstan came up to speed. FWIW I always left them run all the time on the single plays.

The problem here is you're shortening the motor life and wasting money on electricity. It's really better to have the motor stop when there is no cart in the slot.

The 3D Delta I own already runs it's motor upon the cart insertion. The single ones don't. They run continuously. This is the opposite you wrote mistakenly above. I'm not worried about the wow-up thing since this is for home amusement only. I just want to save electricity and the motors themselves. I still haven´t found how to achieve that in the manual. Perhaps I'm mistaken and I was just dreaming that was possible... I don't see on the motor logic board any strap regarding this issue...

Do you see any cards inside that contain dip switches?

You could probably modify the units, but you'd need the schematics.

They don't use dip switches. Just jumpers. I have the manual/schematics but it seem to not indicate anything regarding the motor starup settings.

Sounds to me like you'll have to modify the decks then. Essentially what you'd probably have to do, is trace the power supply connectors going to the motor. You'd have to install some sort of relay into the wiring, along with some sort of switch that would close the relay upon a cart being inserted.

I modified an old ATC (yegads this is going back DECADES to the late 70s!) to have the motor start when the play button was pushed (it was used on a 2way radio system as repeater identifier...the cart was recorded with enough dead air at the beginning to allow the start up)..I was able to use some unused contacts on an internal relay..Sure saved on the motor ;)
