I tuned in at 10:30 AM, and stuck with it until 4:30 PM.
I can see where radio professionals wouldn't like "The Zone". It was spontaneous, interesting, and entertaining. It wasn't polished to within an inch of its life. It didn't have all life and spark smoothed out into bland vanilla "professionalism". Aside from Steigerwald, who couldn't be anything but boring no matter what he talked about, I liked most of what I heard.
In a world where every station on the air sounds like the people in the crowd of the Apple Computer "1984" ad looks, The Zone was a refreshing breath of fresh air. It did not sound like a standard, cookie-cutter "professional" station, and that's a good thing.
I doubt if it will last as long as Diamond Dave's show did.
