Its 7-o-CLOCK in the WEST

Anyone else miss the KBIG "its x-o-clock in the west at SoCals BIG FM" TOTH's?

love em.
Worse than that, we miss Chuck Riley the voice who did the top of the hour time checks.
He only passed away a few weeks ago.

Yeah, KBIG during the years those ID's were used actually sounded a lot like a Top 40/CHR station from the late 70's and early to mid 80's. Both musically and in the energy level of the talent. It sounds very scattered now. The imaging is great, but the producer who creates them has to be the most exhausted guy around as they seem to create more new sweepers, promos and other audio for that station than just about anyone, almost too much. I miss some of the jingles too, not all of them, but the top of the hour ID's for sure... They had a real brand at the top.

The imaging..... I think its kinda bland. They are doing the typical boring one male, one female type sweepers that can be heard on multiple stations in most markets across the country. Nothing new here, nothing exciting.

and I never know if im listening to KAY-BIG or KAY-BEE-EYE-GEE anymore! haha

but seriously... Boogie Nights is about all the KBIG I can handle these days. It feels like KBIG has lost its way, musically..... but I guess the ratings are saying differently.

I still dont understand how they could have Boogie Nights lead into that horrible Delilah. It just doesnt make sense! At 10-o-clock, my radio gets shut off immediatly (and I KNOW im not alone). Its gonna take A WHOLE LOT MORE than a $1000 contest for me to sit thru that crap ; )>

but ive been complaining about her since January and a lot of good THATS done... lol

but yeah... it would be great to have the old KBIG jingles back (or at least updated versions).

Actually the male voice is a guy who does a lot of TV work and is unbelievably high priced. He makes about 70 to 80% more than the average image voice on a Clear Channel station. Plus I hear he really limits the amount of work he'll do for any given station every month. Sounds like a sweet deal, but is he really better, or should I say more dynamic than the voice he replaced Marc Driscoll? No, he's got a nice voice, but is rather bland. The female voice on the other hand is actually okay, and has improved greatly over that last couple of years. I still think that the guy writing and producing KBIG's imaging is top notch, but could benefit from a change of the male voice he has to work with. As for Delilah, I totally agree, she's just awful. I really think her being there is more political than anything else.

My question is: "Why does anyone carry Delilah?" I'm sure she has a following, but I've yet to hear from any of them. I've not read or heard one positive comment about her from anyone who's ever listened to her. I don't particularly care for her myself, either, but then, I'm not a female with nothing better to do than call a syndicated touchy-feely female DJ and gripe or cry about my boyfriend/hubby. You're probably right, calguy, maybe it is political.

Delilah is only on KBIG because CC uses 104.3 as a dumping ground for ANY programming to protect their other LA assets.

Splitting the evening hours like that with such polar opposite programing makes no sense otherwise.

*I TOTALLY * loved those, "it's 7 o'clock, in the west!" ID's...i was in
so-cal, 2004, alot - and maybe that was the last of the best, but
yea, it did sound Awesome!!! !!!

> where i work ( w/ develop_disabled adults) one of the guys has a watch that
say the KBIG ID, say the time!! and in the morning, actually would clock-a-doodle doo!! lol.

i wish they still had those id's!! there were soo... FUN!
