What do you mean back in the day? Has it really been that long since KPSI was the market's CHR/Pop outlet? Didn't flip like 3 years ago?
Hot 97.7 is a name I'm sure some people remember from back in the day as San Jose's successful Rhythmic CHR. It was killed off in the mid 90s despite high ratings, and it was also both heavily influenced by KMEL and Wild in nearby San Francisco, as well as on occasion influencing those stations as well.
The biggest problem this new CHR/Pop station will face is its weak signal, which seem tobe spotty even in downtown Palm Springs. Still, it's better then nothing. Nice to see more California markets are getting CHR/Pop radio back (like Z-97.9 Monterrey-Salinas). I hope San Francisco and San Jose are indeed next.
