It's almost time

Yeah it looks like they are.

Magic's Christmas music is excellent. The variety is great given what they have to work with. Way better than last year even. I listened to as much as I could stand and looked online....never even heard some of the stuff they've come up with. Will be nice in a few weeks.

It's an 'excellent' mix (as i said the variety is pretty large, given what there is to work with), but it is just too soon to listen to and enjoy it. After Thanksgiving is better. The playlist for CC's feed is unbearably tight.

Is WXLY previewing or already all-Christmas? Wonder if Chick-FM will do it.

interesting. do people like christmas songs they have never heard before or do they like the ones they know. considering passive at work listening in the ac format i would stick with the standards

Looks like XLY is all-in. They are playing Christmas in morning drive today. Haven't heard any on Chick yet.

Perhaps they feel that since they are starting so early, they don't want be so repetitive this early. WMYI is repeating themselves to death, but CC is in charge of that. I really don't know about how the music in the all-Christmas format works with at-work listening, but it's hard to find offensive Christmas songs. I wonder how many Christmas stations will play 12 Pains of Christmas....probably not many. I like the wider variety. Finally somebody isn't scared to go out on a limb and try a larger variety and different Christmas songs.

Surprisingly, it doesn't look like WXLY is using the national feed.

i would stick with the familiar even if it is todays singers with updated versions of the classics

Well, Magic 98.9 has already been playing the 12 Pains of Christmas. I have heard it twice. About the only 2 songs I really detest is Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer and the one where the dogs are barking out Jingle Bells. The rest I can live with.

I know Magic is playing 12 Pains, I meant I dare anyone else around to play it :D agreed about those two songs, they are irritating. Thankfully I haven't heard the dog one this year.

I always look forward to hearing "I'm Gettin' Nuttin' for Christmas" and " I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas". Also, "There's Something Stuck Up In The Chimney" is one of my favorites too. I must be goofy.

Haha, you're not alone. I almost died when I heared "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas" on Magic 98.9 the other day. I love the novelty songs.

Wonder why they are doing that, probably becuase some want some regular music instead of christmas music, think its pretty cool that their doing that:)

I heard Lee mention it on-air yesterday. The stream is decent, wide variety. I like the good helping of 70s and 80s.

Given that some at-work listeners listen online, it's a good move because they will keep many that don't want all-Christmas listening online and they will come back to the "regular" format after Christmas. Smart move.
