Since 6 of the top 12 chr pop songs were rock based. The format is back to where it should be and there is more promise for the future now that teens seems to prefer a variety of music instead of a constant diet of rhythmic music, which has only changed over the past couple of years.

And by that you mean that rhythmic material has no place on mainstream radio? That rock should always and forever be the dominant genre in the Top 40?

Time to get out of the 70's, thank you very much! CHR has been a successful format for as long as it has because it changes with the times. Rock had it's turn for about thirty years. That's over now. Get over it.

I don't see where I said any of that.

Rhythmic music has just as much a place on chr as does rock and as does pop. The format is at its best when it incorporates the best of all these. I tend to think that a little rhythmic lean is good for chr, but the way it has been for the past couple of years, it is over board. When you only play one or two non-rhythmic songs an hour you are not a chr station. Z 100 Ny is the model for what chr in 2006 should be, it is good that more stations are coming back to being true chr's, as Z 100 has always been (outside of that alternative faze circa 1994).

I don't know what the rock had it's turn for about thirty years is about, chr has always been a ballance of playing the hits of all genres, are you trying to tell me that chr in the 70's did not play Stevie Wonder, EWF, KC and the Sunshine band, Bee Gees ETC.......?

Wow, it sure has been a long time. Even though I dislike Lips of an Angel, Call Me When You're Sober, and Far Away, it sure is nice to see Snow Patrol, The Fray, and (still on there) Panic At the Disco on there.

Although, I don't see a re-live of rock. Right now only three new and gaining songs are considered rock (It Ends Tonight, When You Were Young, The Only Difference Between yeah you know it). The rest is straightforward rhythmic or R&B.

No, but there were a lot of CHRs playing mostly rock all the way up through the 70's. That's why I included the decade.

Sorry I mistook you. Taking all of what you said into consideration with the line "The format is back where it should be..." I thought you were saying rock should always be the primary source of material for the format. My misunderstanding.
