As Dave Barber pointed out in another thread, he is being replaced by John Depetro on WPRO. Here are my thoughts. Glad to have John back in the market. But I'm not glad that it's Barber being replaced. I had a much better person in mind. Mr. Afternoon better watch his back. The writing is on the wall. This station will not hesitate to hand your ass to you on a platter in an instant. So much for job security on the trail.

WPRO has just made themselves almost invincible. Depetro will bring a serius , FOR REAL, hard hitting style to WPRO.
Ratings AND cume will go up.
I had recommended Depetro for Barber weeks ago.
I also recommended Allen for Yorke.
When that happens, a 10 year run of NUMBER 1 is in WPROs future.

I sure wish I owned WHJJ right now. I love a good ratings fight. This sort of stuff just makes me hungry. I would hire the most contraversial cutting edge hosts I could get my hands on to go up against WPRO. It's not even a contest. With Depetro on board WPRO is going to be the hands down winner unless HJJ does something miraculous!

According to Barber, Depetro is his replacement. I wouldn't put it past WPRO to lie to Barber just to create spin here. However the timing is actually perfect to make this happen since Depetro needs a job. So that is why this whole scenario is very believable.
I'm thinking that WPRO will groom Depetro in the morning and then move him to afternoons when Buddy is ready to start. Yorke will be out and Buddy will take over from 9 to Noon. This is my prediction as of this minute.

Well if WPRO is playing all of us, that will just make them look worse. Hopefully they have better things to do with their time than play stupid games for us here. Only time will tell.

DePetro could be a foil for the real hire-- our pal Buddy.
Well Buddy is probably going to be home confined for 6 months after release. In that case WPRO would probably send a van to his house and have him do the show from there like they did with Carolyn FOX for a while. That is if they are in a rush to get him on the air. Either way I think it's a safe bet Buddy will be on WPRO sometime by the end of the year.

well , let's see , many of you fools thought Paul G "was a genius"....are you kidding me....he's become a freggin puppet for Barbara who is now running the station and G has become a pathetic version of what a PD is really supposed to be. Program Directors are supposed to take a stance , defend his people , protect them. Do the right things- oh , and how about , RUN THE STATION! Farid , judy , and Barbara run the place.. MAKE ALL THE DECISIONS while paul sits there with his thumb up his ***..........at this point he just just writes little "traffic" jingles..... he's a blubbering fool who takes his anger out on the part timers who fear him cause they're radio low life's. Paul G is truely going down as one of the biggest fools in this industry. He's way out of his league- has no clue and as for the Barber debacle , hey , karma is a funny thing- WPRO has just created the perfect storm for a ratings war. Buddy , he'll NEVER work with Depetro...NEVER!!!!! There have been rumblings that Rush will retire in the next year or two. Stations like WPRO just might move on sooner rather than later. Makes perfect sense to move Buddy into Rush's spot. Both DePetro and Yorke do a lot of investigating of tips sent to them about political foul play. Buddy cannot touch that hands-on aspect of talk radio because of his past foul play but would be the perfect "commentator" on the political game here in RI.

first off... i dont know why stations in providence have program directors anyway.... they could save a lot more money by doing away w/ the job and just let the genral mgr. run.... it seems thats who call the shots anyways...... as far as depetro not working w/ buddy..... its not his choice... you all know how radio works and IF depetro was hires he would be in no position to start dictating whos gonna do what.... the moron should be grateful someone was actually stupid enough to hire him... what will really be interesting is york and depetro working together under one roof sence its no secret they both cant stand each other.... however i say depetro is the replacment york dosent go anywhere..... raina smith goes to pm drive w/ york and buddy to mornings w/ ron....

With Imus In The Morning. I don't know if he'll be out 7/27 or earlier, but I'll bet anyone a jar of The Mayor's Own Marinara Sauce he hits the Imus show first. After that it's anyone's guess, but it would be a perfect springboard to Buddy on WHJJ.

Why would Raina Smith be dropped in Yorke's lap when Yorke is pulling nice ratings and Smith would have nothing to offer his show? Foolishness!
