Dial up MMR during the day and all you hear is Pierre yakking constantly, dial up YSP later on and Kidd Chris is talking and clowning around. Where the heck do you go to hear rock music on the radio. At least we had Y-100 when the other stations were chatting and talking sports, but that is another story. I hope the rumors are true and Kidd and his crew grab mornings with Couzin, then YSP can rock after 10AM, after the Eagles are put to rest at the end of the season.

Can you clarify, please? Is it the chatter that bothers you or the lack of the kind of music you want to hear?

I agree with you on rock stations that SAY "Shut Up And Rock" but actually "Yak More Than Rock". As for a "lack of rock music" in Philly...what kind exactly do you not hear enough of? If you don't mind, give me some artists as examples.

Thanks...

That's a simple one. Satellite radio. I haven't turned back to Philly broadcast radio since Feb 24th. All the "rock" music you need, with absolutely no talk or ego.

It has become one of those "things" you pay for now. Unfortunately.

You have it down to a tee, they say "Shut Up And Rock" but they seem to be Talk Stations. Pierre talks non-stop about things that happened 20 years ago, Kidd is another Stern clone. For example, today Kidd was talking so much he had to stop and say "Wait, we are a rock station, I better play some music", then I switched to Jaxon and he had people on talking about the Eagles. WHAT THE HELL, are they Rock Stations or Talk Outlets. I am satisfied with the music on YSP, MMR should play the stuff they played Labor Day Weekend. YSP is OK during the day and at night, after Kidd. I thought Couzin was hard to take, but at least he plays music. I guess what I am saying is the music is OK, but there is too much emphasis on each station trying to be so personality oriented they forget the main thing, THE MUSIC. If they want to be extreme talk then say it and do it, but at least leave one station that rocks 24/7/365, the urban lovers, have their formats/stations, over five, non-stop, why can't the rocker have at least one??? I really do not want to pay for satellite to hear the music I love, when other music tastes are satisfied in this city for free, its the principle, not the money. I guess I can always use Music Choice if it gets really bad.

Umm, I can list tons:
Franz Ferdinand, Garbage, The Killers (once per day between Led Zeppelin and GnR is not enough), Gorillaz, Radiohead, Weezer (again see parenthesis above), Death Cab For Cutie, The White Stripes, Hot Hot Heat, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Coheed and Cambria, The Bravery, The Shins, Ben Folds...want me to keep going? I don't even like all of these bands, but they are definetly not being played enough or at all on Philly radio. These bands are also on the top of the modern rock charts.

Imagine if rock radio in the past did not embrace new music. Thank god for Sirius. Keep digging your grave programmers and consultants. Young people (btw I'm 25) stopped listening to the radio when it started it sucking. Too much repetition, and not enough chance.

Oh and by the way, the ratings for The Beat are no better than Y100s. (And, no I didn't used to work there). People I talk to young and old all miss Y100.

I think some of the kiddies from this board are getting the ears of the programmers. Push our music, and the ones we don't like? Well.....banish them from the public airwaves. I've said it before, yadda yadda yadda...yet its coming true. Rock radio will go the way of the Dodo because its seen as the "old guard"...or, in today's world...the Republican party!!!<P ID="signature">______________
