It's Here: The rock is back on 94 WYSP

4th Song: Metallica - Enter Sandman

I'm aware that the playlist isn't going to stay like this, but I have to laugh when I think back on how we crapped all over the first couple of hours at 104.5 for being stale and predictable.

If I could've guessed the first five songs WYSP would play when they went all rock again, these would've been it.

What are your thoughts on the new format so far?

predictable, but I realize they're trying to re-establish their identity musically speaking, so I'm letting it slide for about 24 hours

edit: Beastie Boys! Saaaabotaaage

alright, this has some hope if they're at least self-aware about what they're playing. nobody likes a metalhead that takes themselves too seriously.

Whew! Wow-weeee!
This is too exciting. A station that plays all the songs with singers that can't, songwriters that aren't and musicians that couldn't.
When did rock get redefined to talent garbage dump?
Let me run out to the truck and set a preset!

kool, now i got 5 strong rock stations im my area that i can listen to again!

93.3 WMMR
105.7 The Hawk
102.9 MGK
94.1 WYSP
104.5 WRFF Radio 1045

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Give it time to see how the format develops. It will be interesting to see where they try to fit in (musically) with respect to WMMR and 104.5. Closer to WMMR, I'd imagine. Stating the obvious, WYSP still has one heck of a rock heritage in the market, which CBS is banking on in order to get listeners back to the format. And there's no better time for them to make this move than during Eagles' season. Clearly, they want a bigger piece of Clear Channel's male audience than they were getting with talk.

Besides, once the mothership went rock in NY - the handwriting was on the wall.

Hey, no more complaints about how there's no rock in Philly! ;)
