It's inevitable....

If that were the case, you'd think there'd be holiday hits on local HD subchannels by now...

Of course, WBMW in New London is a virtual lock to flip the Christmas switch - but I wonder if the new WELJ will make a similar transition after they're done playing their 10,000 songs in a row (assuming that hasn't yet happened by now) - you know, to grab some ears...

DRC-FM threw its Christmas oldies collection on the HD2 signal a few days before Christmas a couple of years ago, but didn't do it last year.

WBMW is all Christmas today, Sunday. They're continuing to offer an internet-only stream of soft rock, as in previous years.

I work at Illusions in Wolcott and although we're not a strictly Country bar any more, about 35% of the music we play is Country music and my boss and I have mixed in a couple Christmas Country songs. In fact my boss let me borrow 2 Country Christmas CDs - one is "Have Yourself a Tractors Christmas" and the other is "Mercury Country Christmas 1996." One of the more popular songs we play is "Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train" by The Tractors and on their Christmas Album they remixed the song as "Santa Claus is Coming (on a Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train).

Our crowd invents Line-Dances for non-country songs, but I couldn't believe it when I went up to Illusions on Thursday night on my day off and the other DJ (not my boss) played "Dominic The Italian Christmas Donkey" and some in our crowd were line-dancing to that song and others were first pumping.

As for WWYZ I've heard both Country and traditional versions of Christmas Songs on their main channel. (Traditional versions meaning like what they play on Lite 100.5, The River, DRC-FM, etc, etc).
