It's Memorial Day Weekend. What are YOUR Hometown Stations Doing About it?

Any stations doing any party mix weekends or exclusive party hits from back in the day or today?
Any stations giving more acknowledgement to modern dance hits as a result of the party weekend?
Any stations doing anything unique, fun, & different this weekend to officially kick off summer?

Q97.9 of Portland Maine is doing what they do every Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day the Q Holiday Hangover.

Q Holiday Hangover: It's the unofficial kickoff to summer!

Listen to Q 97.9 all weekend long for plenty of party tunes from the present and past! You never know what may just be coming out of your speakers!

And here we go!

As of 5pm our KZON and KKFR have been in the mix for the MEMORIAL DAY MIX WEEKEND! It will end sometime Monday night.
Actually, maybe Tuesday early morning since slow jams & dedications have been a thing of the past for quite a long time now!

KKFR is also doing their "traditional" all summer weekend mix throwdown, mixing all weekend long EVERY summer now through Labor Day Weekend!

Too bad KZZP, KAJM, and KNRJ aren't doing anything this time around. MOViN 97.5 we're not expecting anything from... but I wish they at least had stayed with their Rhythmic AC top 40 sound. I remember back in 2005 when we had quite a few stations getting down in the mix! Anything that was associated with rhythmic in any way was getting down!

KNRJ with all the house and trance
KAJM with all the rhythmic oldies and old school r&b, freestyle, disco, funk, and motown
KKFR with all the rhythmic hip hop & r&b hits
KZZP just doing their rhythm top 40 party hits from back in the day and today

We did not yet have KZON unfortunately :( but KVIB Latino Vibe was already putting down about 6 to 8 hours in a mix DAILY with all the latin rhythmic hits, or reggaeton, latin hip hop, spanish pop urbano, latin house, y mas.

Those were the days... but now we kinda have more stations that COULD be doing more if they wanted to today, and it would be more fun now that the hip hop generation has now come to a close and variety in sound has once again returned to mainstream radio. Btw, KZON should be Arizona's new official Party Station of 2010. I also miss KKFR's electro-hiphop & house show that would've been going on RIGHT NOW if we were in 2009.

I already know that Power 106 in L.A. is just outta control right now! If it weren't for them, Los Angeles just would not be worthy of going to anymore. I'll forever miss those days of wishing I were in L.A. because they're long gone. Now I just love it here in Az. Yes, L.A. may have their underground house show and their aquanet freestyle and classic dance show on Friday's on Power 106, but other than that, you will not get anymore modern dance or booty bass hits in L.A. than you'll get here in Az. The same thing with the new generation electro-hip hop. Anyway, BACK TO MY PARTY MIXES I GO. (Give me that new Pitbull.. Give me that new David Guetta.. Where's that new Enrique Iglesias? And use that Cascada some more!!! Oh, and it's about time to start bumpin that new Richard Vission "I like that"... Lets do it AZ!!)

...Ok I guess the new 2007+ style of mixing all weekend is to go during the day then stop at night and continue later the next day and repeat the cycle. Not complaining... that's still way better than nothing!
