It's Now 97.5

No really, that's the name of the station...

Dubs itself "A younger approach to today's soft rock".

Pretty much upholds the same mix of music they've played all weekend long.

I guess this would qualify as a "Fresh" station if B101 didn't their grubby little hands on the naming rights...

Plus, like B101, they're backselling every song.

They appear to be going cut-throat for B101.

First song: Pink - "Who Knew"
Second song: Police - "Every Breath You Take"

I will give them this: At least at the end of "Don't Stop Believin" they didn't pull the cheesy "Sopranos" move and cut if off toward the end...

Thoughts?

Bet me too it...
Last Song was
Dont Stop Believin'
First song was Who Knew-Pink
2nd song Every Breath you take by the Police with a liner of " A younger approach to Todays Soft Rock"
This song is not "Younger" and it's not "Todays" soft rock. It's 1981's. Looks like same cookie cutter AC

"HOW DARE THEY MENTION WFIL!!!!! 97.5, I'VE LISTENED TO WFIL ...AND YOU'RE NO WFIL!!!"

As we're all hitting the message board right now, I once again imagine the scene from a movie (I can't remember the title) where some giant story breaks, and all the reporters run for the line of phone booths, and the entire line topples over. I think it was "Airplane!"

As long as they don't play any Celine Dion (or, as the late Big Ron used to post on the AOL boards, "Sea Lion Dion") or Rod Stewart "Forever Young", I'm okay with it.

Although they replaced a unique format with a "duplicate" format, which sucks.

I suppose they can sell this in combo with Ben, so there's some logic there (except for the truly softer songs, most of this weekend's music was a subset of the Ben library). But to do any damage to the B? I can't see it--just evoking the long-gone Eazy 101 name isn't going to cut it all these years later as a competitive move.

From the website:

"Now is my new favorite station!"
- Paula M, Doylestown, PA

Yeah? IS it, "Paula"? Reminds me of when WBHT (up here in my area) changed from "Hot 97" to "97BHT", and I was producing promos for the "new" station containing "people on the street" yelling "I love BHT!!!!"

Oh dear God, now they're playing "Margaritaville". That should keep the cliche drunken college kids happy.

Continuous, all in a row, one right after the other, no talk for your workday, everybody at work can agree on it, favorites, softer, fresher, now-er, newer, somebody hand me the kool aide.

And, it's family-friendly/safe, so the little ears can listen!!

Hey, they have a message board. Serious posts only, people!!! ;D

This music makes me want to buy a Dodge Caravan, put a soccer ball sticker on the back, and get some jeans with a 12-inch zipper that zips up and over my bunt.

Ummmmm, the aforementioned Rod Stewart selection DID air... during what was the supposed "stunt", but not post-launch. Expect to hear at least both....

"Time to update your radio at work"

Yeah right. The offices that had WJJZ on probably changed the station immediately after hearing Pink.

They mean the offices that had B101 on at work.
Don't worry. This station will not last, unless someone else decides to change...

Madonna - Borderline sounded a lot like Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love. They put the wrong song tag after the song!

Can you imagine getting into work, turning your computer and expecting to hear JJZ, and Pink comes screaching out of your computer speakers? That could cause medical problems throughout the listening area~!
