It's Official: 106.3 goes Female-Talk

As of 5:30pm, the website is up for the new 106.3 WGVC - "talk the way women want" - http://1063wgvc.com

This has to be the biggest joke I've ever seen. What the heck is wrong with Entercom? Oh boy, I can't wait to see the ratings...

;D So, how long before the "Crash and Burn" starts? Total waste of a good FM!!!! Chick, you called that one!! When are they going to put the "SHE WOMEN-MAN HATE CLUB" Sign up page on the website? HA HA

I'm going to LOVE listening to it... just not for the reason they want me to. I'll be laughing my ass off the whole time. There is ONE good thing for the Greenville community in all this. Think of all the PSA's they'll be able to run! :D

LOL! Good job Chick...got any other inside scoops? This is making Bo Griffin look pretty good!!

Nothing cookin' now but I'll keep my ear to the ground. Yeah, Bo Griffin. As I said elsewhere, if you read Greenstone's sales pitch for "Women Aloud" it sounds a lot like Bo Griffin times two! A couple of really loud women talking about entertainment. I guess they figure if one "Bo Griffin" style show failed, two of them might work. ;)

But you know what? The common thread in their decisionmaking seems to be that, in theory, their decisions make sense. But for some reason, Pat Paxton and company don't think things through. The non-com Christian station in Greenville does well. So does country. So on the surface, Country/Christian makes sense. Except that hyper targeting is what works in radio, not taking hypertargeted stations and combining them.

Talk radio? Well, it's male dominated, yet women listen to radio. Women like to talk. I know, let's create a talk radio station for women! It makes sense on the surface too. But our brains don't work the same as guys brains and radio isn't tv without pictures. So I don't see the Oprah audience turning to Greenstone-formulated talk radio.

Actually, the website is back down.

Congrats to chick.

Any insight on how much money they'll bleed before they pull the plug?

Entercom is probably going to lose big money...The decisions keep getting more and more ridiculous! First, they get rid of Oldies, and put the Walk (which was already struggling on the 103s) on 106.3, the ratings drop by almost 50%, so now they try female talk...The Walk is brilliant by comparison and better suited for this region.

Any guesses how long it'll last? I have a feeling it won't be here this time next year..

A lot of times I wish Barnstable still ran ROQ, TPT and GVC over at McAlister...

Clear Channel and Cox probably can't believe they are the recipient of this gift. If I were to put up a wall map of The United States and try to find a less hospitable market for this kind of format, I don't think I could find one.

ok,....out of phase......on a mono radio, and on the fringe when u lose the stereo pilot......the girls vanish

dont they pre-listen to the sats before throwing it on the air?

b

I'm sorry...but this is so bad it's funny! Those ladies are barely listenable - hope the rest of the day is more interesting but I doubt it.

They sound like they're underwater here on all radios...what's going on? The local stuff sounds fine but when it goes to the satellite it sounds like it's underwater.

Thank God for 103.3 and WORD!

I was thinking the same thing. The presentation of the Ra dio Ritas is kind of NPRish. Can you imagine having to be responsible for selling this to advertisers?

Well I've been listening when I can and it seems that it's getting worse by the minute! Does anybody actually LIKE this?

Yeah. Clear Channel! :D

The first thing I heard when I tuned in this morning was Lisa Birnbach saying how sad she was that John Kerry was criticized for his joke. Wow... I'm sure that's going to go over well with Greenville listeners...

;D 106.3 needs a name per the website........106-3 The Beaver!
