Even though the website for the future WUBL is up and definately running, AC music is still playing on 94.9 FM there. The LAST 10 portion of the front page shows that normal AC XMAS offerings (94.9 is still in All XMAS mode) are still playing on 94.9. so AC isn't off 94.9 just yet. After the XMAS 24/7 mode ends, then it will turn into 94.9 the bull. Does anyone know if 94.9 still calls itself 94.9 Lite FM and WLTM on air? And after 94.9 the Bull signs on, Cox AC rival WSB-FM (B98.5) will, more than likely, begin airing spots saying they are the only soft rock station and the #1 listen at work/at work Radio station in Atlanta. However the last book shows that AC isn't really a good format in ATL with both B98.5 and 94.9 Lite FM neck and neck in the 2's (2.6 for B98.5 and 2.4 for Lite-FM). And, WKHX (101.5 Kicks Country) needs a good competitor, and fellow ABC/Disney station WYAY (Eagle 106.5), with a 1.9 in the last book for 12+ is not one, and others mentioned are not at all. Hopefully, Eagle 106.5 flipping to a southern country/rock mix format, also known as Southern Fired Rock, could bring WYAY to new highs as 1.9 is very terrible ratings wise compared to 4.5 for Kicks Country. [EDIT] Expect a big uproar by former Lite-FM listeners who have NOT found out about the flip yet.

y106 (as it was known "back then") WAS "southern fried rock" before it became "the eagle" which plays older country. I like both. I don't care for hip hop country rap such as 101.5 plays.

I just stumbled into this site from Rodney Cho's blog on ajc.com. Interesting place. Don't get the klucker reference one poster made but what the heck, tired stereotypes are the domain of the ignorant.

I'm in the same boat as yet another poster. When I click "the bull" website I get some not authorized to view this website message.

So will the "new" 106.7 be the nascar station of will it go elsewhere?

Why wouldn't they wait until after Christmas? It doesn't make sense to debut tomorrow. I heard Randy & Spiff yesterday at the end of their "Wish-a-thon" say we'll see you bright & early Monday morning. We shall see.

The company party is Tuesday and the bowling teams have already been selected. :-\ Do you have any idea how much of a stink Melissa Berry and Kim Snyder would raise if they had to REDO the bowling teams the day before????!!!!

And why piss off the audience that is enjoying the music a week before Christmas for a format change? Doesn't that seem counterproductive? Randy and Spiff are supposed to leave for vacation in a couple of days, so even if they change the call letters and make the announcement, it's possible they'll just play carols and run Bull promos until the 26th.

Maybe we'll hear something this evening or early tomorrow.

Another thing lost in all this is what probably is the longest running program in Atlanta radio, "The Sounds of Faith" Snday mornings on Peach/Lite for decades. Was today the last broadcast?

The format for the Sounds of Faith would still work for Sunday mornings for this country station. If anything, you probably would hear more artists like Steven Curtis Chapman as he sounds Christian country anyway. What else would they program on Sunday mornings other than a typical country countdown show? We already have that on Kix and Eagle.

There's a good reason why flipping before Christmas wouldn't make sense. Lots of advertising is on the books before Christmas, and Lite's highest rates of the year are in effect when they're playing Christmas music. After Christmas, advertising dies. January has the year's lowest ad rates.

If they flipped the format before Christmas, they would have to tell their advertisers, who could cancel or would want to pay lower rates for a new format.

Of course, just because it wouldn't make sense to flip before Christmas does not guarantee that CC won't do it anyway.

Cox and Cumulus are not stupid. For the past few weeks they have had plenty of time to plan for Lite's flip to Country, making liners to take advantage, and prepping for a possible flip/format tweak for Eagle (in Cumulus' case). If CC had flipped all their stations at once after Christmas with no notice then Cox and everyone else would have been caught off guard. But as we know CC is two holes short of a bowling ball.

"The Eagle" has been playing more and more "southern fried rock" for at least the last six months. you folks may be "insiders" but I'm a listener with brain. In the last six month's we've been getting Skynyrd, Eagles, Charlie Daniels (long haired country boy type Daniels, not Devil went down to Georgia), Atlanta rythm section, Pure pairie league (amie type), Allman Brothers and so on. I'll miss those old country classics that no one else will play anymore, but I can't say I'm not eagerly anticipating some good old fashioned southern R&R. Be nice to hear Molly Hatchets version of "Dreams" on a radio station again.......... not to mention .38 special, ARS, ABB, etal. Somehow I don't see it happening. I'm in the demographic group that marketers don't like. They want teenie boppers since every cent a teenie bopper has is disposable cash and they are wide open to "suggestion".

It's funny how you disparage racism with a hate-filled comment of your own.
All of these southern rock bands are based in the blues, a medium invented by southern blacks.
Skynyrd's Ballad of Curtis Lowe celebrates that African American influence in their music. The Allman Brothers had a black drummer. The Allman's even took "Mama Louise' the patroness of Macon's soul-food mecca H&H Restaurant on tour as their caterer. H&H is still there after all these years and you'll often find black folks, rockers, redneck bikers and blue haired emo kids all sharing a table while the Allmans, Otis Redding, James Brown and Molly Hatchet stream from the Juke. The fact that most of these bands came to prominence playing Atlanta and Macon clubs like Grants Lounge (the southern CBGB's) makes the possibility of the Southern fried format a welcome reflection of this areas rich musical history.

I think it was Greg Allman that said there was no such thing as southern rock because all rock comes from the South.

I do however wonder how this will effect Q100.
