Its official! Bluewater is out of Dothan.

zuzu X2. I know you feel better. Enjoy your Thanksgiving, I think that you'll really appreciate it this year.

zuzu X 3.

I won't even bother asking what happened. I assume it's the same thing that happened to the rest of us who tried to help. All I ask is that you now have a better appreciation of Depeche Mode Walking In My Shoes.

It reminds me of a conversation I had about 3 years ago... During the change from styles to tragic, it was about 7am when my cell rang. Caller ID showed the magician. The meat of the conversation was about how "machiavellian" the company was...My mistake was I thought he was talking about styles!!! ::)

Best of luck to you all back in Montgomery.

Pretty sure the Bluewater folks bowed out gracefully in this situation given the opportunity. Don't know what
happened, but it's a shame for the Dothan market and certainly for Magic Broadcasting. Bluewater lands
on their feet. That's my bet.

There is no need to sling any mud. No on faults Bluewater, we all wished you the best of luck and continue to wish you luck and success in radio.

We all have worn the shoes you are wearing and walked a mile or more...

Understand that Don is back on the scene at Magic. He is the guy that built the stations and most likely has a plan to "rebuild" the stations. Time will tell!

Well, as long as I get to keep the work, I'm going to keep on doing V.O. for middays... if they of course thay don't dump me...LOL
I like doing the the V.O. on Star... I hope they don't change it... I think it will work in Dothan... I know I get a ton of emails everyday from the market.... we'll see what happens.

The board has been rather quite lately on Magic and the market in general. Have you guys given up or is there just nothing going on. What is it going to take to rebuild the market in general and the Magic stations specifically? I've got no dog in this hunt but there was such a flurry of activity for such a good while, people going out the door faster than a cat after a mouse, LMA's being formed and "un formed".

Real simple nuff, IMO. Here's the fix for mkt 192, Magic and every other market. Get the "flippers" and "wall streeters" out of the radio business. They came in seeking quick profits with no knowledge of the industry or what makes the industry work which leads to real long term profitability. The real broadcasters need to get back in but they aren't because the present "bag holders" can't stand to admit bad decisions so they aren't to the point of taking big losses to get out .......... which is why I'm still camped out on the court house steps.

Here's a topic of discussion for us ......... Who are smarter and who are the better entrepreneurs, the old broadcasters or the present "captains of industry"?

Stewy .. yep, you are correct. The CC and other large broadcast companies way has been to cut cost and any cost and improve profits! Not sure this is what happened in Dolthan but it really takes a lot of work to screw up good stations like the ones Majic owns in the market. Old school broadcasters knew that programming was the driving force for sales and the age old battle of Pgm VS Sls drew the line in the sand. This battle has been raged forever but one must understand that without some kind of programming the listeners like and support there isn't much to sell. Also feel that sellers got into the habit of selling "the numbers" and forgot that good old fashion street sense drives sales. To many cookie cutter PD's and way to many "order takes" are in positons of power in many stations. A stations with a team attitude can produce both ratings and revenues but it has to be a two way street. Broadcast executives sitting in the posh offices with little or no real broadcast experience are handing down marching orders to the troops with no idea of how to make it happen. Sellers are getting the order at any cost and on air talent has been cut to the bone .. there are no or very few "street fighters" out there anymore.
