It's Official: Comcast, NBC/GE Announce Deal

We may not hear the last about this merger, if this judge follows through on threatening to delay the deal.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111904888304576472652219116660.html

The deal was completed in January, but the merger settlement between the companies and the Justice Department is subject to review by a federal court. The court's review—and approval—is usually a routine part of merger settlements, but a federal judge has the power to undo an agreement or force changes to it.

If the judge were to refuse to sign off on the settlement, the Justice Department could appeal or the parties could renegotiate the settlement to assuage the judge's concerns, people familiar with the matter said. Both parties were digesting the judge's comments and trying to decide how to proceed, those people said.

Telemundo O&Os:

Salt Lake City
Denver
Fresno (?)
Boston (also WWDP, a Shop NBC station)

Both O&Os:

New York City (in the Jersey suburbs, at least)
Chicago
Los Angeles (suburbs) (also KWHY, a Spanish indy)
San Francisco
Dallas / Fort Worth
Miami

All things considered, there's going to be a lot of divesting if this deal does pass.

Add Houston (which is a Comcast market) to the Telemundo O&O list. Also, DFW is a Time Warner market.
But take Miami off NBC's list as they no longer own WTVJ

Cheers :D

NBC still has WTVJ under ownership; they backed out of the deal to sell WTVJ to Post-Newsweek a few months after the deal was announced, back in '08.

As to Los Angeles, Comcast has been out of the market since 2006; it's majority Time Warner, with Cox and Charter sprinkled in-between.
