Inside Emmis the PD's walls are cleared off, there is a sales meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Way i hear it the Old School Summer was just a set up for what's to come. Also hearing that Rick Dees will be syndicated out of LA on 93.1 starting 1st week of the book. What's Next? Can't wait for 9/5.

Re: It's official! Moving 93.1--Rick Dees Relationship with Emmis

Emmis continues to stream the old country station, KZLA, online and via high-definition radio. But, they have changed the format of 93.9 and renamed it to "Movin' 93.9". Rhythmic pop contemporary is what they are calling it, according to Rick Dees' website (www.rick.com). A good summary of what is going on is currently on Rick's website. The official announcement came on August 17, 2006.

I am looking forward to September 5th!

Dees was syndicated in Fort Wayne about 5 years ago and he was terrible. HUGE dissapointment, because I've always liked his LA show and his countdown.

Lower your expectations...

With 93.1 all but Dumping CHR it be time for WZPL to go full fledge CHR and let The soon to be Moving 93.1 to Compete against Rythmic AC The Track and when you look at it the Track is more Rythmic with all the Disco they Play they are Rythmic AC.

I am looking forward to September 5th, not necessarily to hear Rick Dees, but, to hear how WNOU will change.

If they are doing the Movin' format - it is in direct response to what The Track is doing. Movin should take away The Track's younger demos.

Here is Movin

I had been seeing and hearing a lot about this "new" movin format.

Not a terrible idea...but I have heard similar stations try this before...I can think of Sunny in ABQ...they sounded a lot like the sample on this website. Guy named Dave Dart was the PD there and he put it on a couple stations...and they never really got anywhere...that I remember...

Indy wouldn't be my #1 pick for a try at it....but maybe it'll do well

but if you are like me and wonering about the Movin format...here is a link

If WNOU goes Movin id say ZPL should just take what audience Emmis Hands them with the CHR Format go CHR and drop all attempts at being Hybrid CHR/HOt AC.

I completely diagree. WZPL has been one of the best modern AC stations I have ever heard and is currently my #9'th favorite radio station. Why radio stations change all the time, I don't know, and they are messing up the Fort Wayne, IN market as we speak right now. Look at www.100000watts.com's radio updates. Another one of hot AC heaven markets going down.....sad.

Also, why is this new format targeted for women? What about us guys? To me, women get too much in this world, not even a real TV channel for men except Spike TV, and all those damn clothing stores in the mall, now a radio format just for women? Geez...too many women in this world!

You are all out of your mind.

Radio Now 93.1 is not going anywhere. Period. End of discussion.

well then why are they doing promo's to tune into see what's Next on September 5th a mere 8 Days away. its either some lame brain promotion or there switching formats. we need to see if the morning mess on friday says any goodbyes since more than likely they wont be on Next Monday due to Labor Day

Plus since WNOU has been doing the Old School Summer this summer that has to be a hint towards something because prior to this summer. You'd be Lucky if you would hear a song pre 2002 in a gold toss in because WNOU is very very Current intensive plus they play a few recurrent but rarely do they play any Gold type hits from 2000-2005. so they have to be doing something

I don't understand why they would take a fairly successful station and turn it into something that is watered down. I don't listen to the station, and their morning zoo sucks, but most of my friends listen to it. They seem to have a corner on the pre-teen market. If they move towards some "Jack" format, or at least try to bring in an older audience to compete with ZPL, they are going to fail miserably. The backlash of pre-teens is going to kill the station, and their ratings will compete with the mexican AM station.

I am new to most of the radio game, so can some of the wiser people on the board explain the reasoning for the change?

Maybe having the corner on the pre-teen market isn't making them enough money? Maybe they are content giving the pre teens to radio disney or whatever?

Maybe the idea is to steal from everywhere....get the older parts of some...younger of others...and the sum would be higher than the Top40 thing they are doing.

I haven't heard radio now in years...since after the flip from the buzzard.

Looking from the outside, it would seem that they weren't the same kinda station lately as sign on.

I could be way off....but Movin will go the way of Retro, ect. Maybe a splash for a couple books....it gets stale because they are playing the same list 2 years later....and switcheroo to whatever....again just my opinion

Yup. It's a done deal. The entire staff was just fired. Marco and Mikey are at Uhaul right now, Shannon is interning with Bob and Tom tomorrow, and Nigel is already drunk at TGI Fridays. Puuuhleeze!

So... they're gonna change their format on 9/5 and STILL have a station concert on 9/9 (mass. ave festival) with artists that have nothing to do with a new format. oh, and the Track comment a few posts above...that was hilarious, I'm sure someone got everyone together and said "let's go after the TRACKS 1 share"....

You also might want to check trends today...I hear WNOU was one of the few stations that looked real good. not the same for ZPL or HHH!

Easy there Spike...don't drink that Emmis Kool-Aid so fast my friend. Let's be honest, aside from younger demo's who don't spend any money, Radio Now will always be a second rate operation. Nigel and Rain are good, other than that, [EDIT] 2 interns and a guy who pukes in the mic. Nice!

"Spike," you're either a complete idiot or you're someone within Emmis/ Indianapolis messing with all the idiots in this thread that think WNOU is dumping CHR for the "Movin" format. If you're the former, allow me to refer to you once again as an IDIOT. If you're the latter, tell Tim Rainey that a certain person he knows from a certain Top 20 market says "Hello" and to have Jeff spin "Bia Bia" in one of the mixes, just for old time's sake at a certain club about 200 miles west of Indianapolis.

People, for the last time... CHR ON 93.1 IN INDIANAPOLIS IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I'm even willing to make wagers on it.
