It's Official- O&A out...

Via opieradio twitter:

It's official KROCK has just informed us that our services are no longer needed.#2 M18-49,#3 M25-54. This is really bad for our show,PERIOD!

bring on "Hit Radio 92", baby! :) i mean, seriously, if O&A's just sayin that now, given 92.3's situation, that USUALLY means that nine times out of ten, that it's a format change...

I think we all came to that conclusion weeks ago. I just like being able to post this seconds after Opie's twitter.

well i just saw that krock is flipping to now92.3 soo noone is losing there jobs except oanda thats dumb the other jocks are staying on? well i dont think they will fit the genre but who knows.

when it comes to DJs and format changes, TWO words - Dennis Quinn...iirc, for something like, what, 15 YEARS, this dude LASTED at 101.9 through EVERY phase that this station went through...so in other words, don't ANYBODY write off the 92.3 jocks just yet, 'cos in NY radio, in this business, you NEVER, EVER know..

Why are you assuming that the other jocks are staying?
(I hope they are)

A good jock is very versatile and can usually roll with different formats. The fact that most get blown out during format changes is just because stations feel like they have to "start with a clean slate" but with the radio co's cheaping out so much, keeping the same people on is probably just another cost-cutting measure. IF they keep them.

BTW, I wonder if the HD-2 will remain rock-oriented?

Thanks for the correction - but the point needed to be made...

i think they should get rid of krock 2 and just move krocks music now over to there i like krock probrobly te few that does. here in boston we dont have a station playing old rock blended in with the classics its one or the other and there not very good either.

So they're #2 M18-49,#3 M25-54! I just have to know, who is number one`( and two in the second demo) ? Boomer & Carton? Mike and Mike? DON IMUS? That would be scary.

Is there a Men 18 to 35 or 18-40 demo?

I think this morning on the show, they brought up their ratings and when asked about #1, they mentioned it was one of the AM news stations... they didn't specify which one, though.

i dont understand why they would be let go if there number 2 well i could see if they were number 10 or something but 2 come on now i saw a post the booker was staying on, so why wouldnt oanda be able to stayon as a morning zoo type show well thats my take

I was just on the K-ROCK site and the jock blogs have disappeared, the O&A drop down in the menu is no longer working and the jock list has also been removed.

Schwenker should be on now, but his picture isn't up in the 'On Air Now'... haven't heard him on the air either in the past 10 minutes of listening.

Thanks. Why didn't I think of that? Probably WINS-AM.

I'm not a big fan of O&A, sorry to see them go from the station at the good old "K-Rock" for the first time since the incident happened on WNEW back in 2002 over the controversial "Sex for Sam" prank at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

They were on that show at one time where he gave his remarks to Allan Sniffen over the dreaded F-bomb heard on WCBS-TV/DT (channel 2) where a reporter was fired after that incident happened was Arthur Chien. And they also appeared with James Rolfe of the "Angry Video Game Nerd" did an interview about his show and videos that he created.

I hope that one of the CBS Stooges are waiting at the door for a Top 40 station to compete with Z-100, maybe 92.3 will end up next. Don't worry, 97.1 in LA had AMP Radio, what's next? "92.3 Now"?

I wonder if they dropped the brand "K-Rock", because it was not successful after they brought back in 2007 for two years after that "Free-FM" disaster, if WXRK is changing the call letters, are they going to park right back to Cleveland, Ohio under "K-Rock" as WXRK in Cleveland, Ohio. It can't be! They dropped "K-Rock" also in Cleveland and changed its moniker to "Radio 92.3". That's why the "K-Rock" moniker has dropped completely in New York and in Cleveland.

I hope many of the former rock listeners should ended up at WRXP and mostly Q-104 for getting bigger numbers after the lost of "K-Rock". WRXP is not going anywhere, because the station is going to be another WDST in Woodstock.

I hope CBS is going to make a flip right after "K-Rock" dies. "K-Rock" wasn't doing really well in the ratings and in the PPM after "Free-FM" did when it came back two years ago, and now two years later, didn't work really work. I wish CBS would make its last laugh at "K-Rock" and in the mortal words of Porky Pig "Th-Th-That's All Folks!"

"K-Rock" is finished once again!!!!

What could possibly be enjoyable about K-Rock? Same tired hack programming mixed in with the safest currents. If you like the "classics" just stick with Q.

It's pople elike this that make the rest of us suffer...
