It's official to the FCC. WALE is listed as Silenced

I am not sure when it appeared on the FCC Query. But WALE is officially listed as "licensed and silent" as of 12/29/06.
I looked not to long ago and it was not listed as silenced.
Now I have a question. As of 12/29/07 is that the end of 990 in Rhode Island and someone has to reapply for the frequency or just the calls?

Ken,

At the end of a 1 yr silent period that's it. The license reverts to the FCC and anyone can apply for new facilities...

What is the criteria to apply for call letters? Do you actually need a working transmitter? If not than I would like to apply for those calls just so that nobody can get them anymore. I might ultimately sell them to a station in Alaska. That is far enough away so that Rhode Islanders never have to hear those awful call letters ever again.

A station in Alaska would be on the "k" system....nice thought, though

Ahhhh... you are absolutely correct. At 4:30 in the morning I totally forgot about that fact. Well you get the idea. :)

What a PLEASURE not to read the Mafia posts of Radiowaves, Sensei, and FrankieNy.
WALE is like talking about Howie Bart. NOBODY CARES.

If no one cares, why did you mention him? Oh and by the way...the name is spelled "Barte".

But what's more important is that you should be looked forward to WHJJ's lineup in September when Glover's contract is up. WHJJ may well join WALE int he sounds of silence.

YoMo, fool!

Sorry to offend you Howie. Those poster names were so much NONSENSE. Thats all.

So would that make it KALE? Which in a way is appropriate as that washes up on the beach too!
