It's official

Wow, as much as I've been bored by KLOS lately I have to say it saddens me to think about the end of that run if it should come to that.
It would take some balls to skuttle the iconic logo and calls of the once ABC O&O.

Best of luck to my many friends and former co-workers on La Cienega. I hope that you are able to successfully navigate this storm as well.

Is it me or does the fact that Cummulus says they're going to refinance their debt make this deal seem a bit unnerving?
Given the economic climate I imagine it would be hard to find someone wanting to finance that kind of debt load.
I would think that Cummulus must already have an agreement in place for their financing BEFORE completing the deal and if so I wish them the best of luck.
This deal gives them over 500 stations across the country which is Clear Channelesque, how long before Cummulus tries to sell off some stations they find are redundant or don't interest them?
I also don't see them as Big city station owners they tend to be more mid market owners, had some friends who worked for them, they are notoriously cheap hope that doesn't trickle down to the new acquisitions but that would be wishful thinking.

So Farid Suleman kills yet another radio group? That guy couldn't win a spelling bee if the word was "cat" and they spotted him the 'c' and the 't'.

I don't see KLOS being killed off right away, much less in the foreseeable future.

As in another thread we discussed that KLOS still bills quite well and it would quite a risk removing that station.

Now, will the new owners "tinker" with the programming, well, anybody who has worked in this industry for any period of time and have experienced first hand probably know the answer to that question.

Yah... especially if the suits come in with assurances. "We love you guys! Great job! We're not going to change anything!" ::)

Never has someone been paid so much money to destroy so much equity. He is a stockholder's nightmare.

No truth to the rumor that on the street the call him "sell short (on) suleman".

Its gonna be a ghost town at the west la cluster. That sucks big time. Cumulus cleaned house in 2008 on alot of station and the VT is horrible. KLOS will have a new sound before the year ends.

I tend to agree with you, but besides Sunday mornings Beatles show, there is nothing else I listen to on KLOS. As for KABC I and everyone else in town left that station years ago. I wish Cumulus takes a risk and tries something new on both stations.

Well, that pretty much describes Clear Channel 12 or 13 years ago. Look how that worked out.

Cumulus already owns plenty of stations in big cities, including four of the top 10 markets (San Francisco, Dallas, Houston & Atlanta) -- the company bought them from Susquehanna 5 1/2 years ago and has been operating them since.
