And one thing I've noticed time and time again is the number of stores, garages etc that have returned their radios to WBLM.
Simply put, the A to Z they did was one of the greatest moments in Portland radio. It took them weeks to finish. Plus, the morning team sounded better than ever, they were genuinely excited about it all and there was nothing fake about it. The timing was impeckable, as the listeners left without a station from WMGX's flip to Coast only had one place to go-- WBLM definitely cranked out the variety long and hard.
It makes me mad when I hear Frank babble on about their so-called Largest-On-Air CD library. What an insult to the listeners. Keep playing your microscopic play list, Frank. You may not realize it now but WBLM won back a lot of their listeners with A to Z. And now that they're grabbing peoples attention with a 500 dollar LOCAL contest, your 100 bucks an hour sounds kind of, well, less exciting. Maybe the least creative radio I've ever heard.
Things are slowly but surely getting back the way they should be in Portland radio. WBLM should go back up, Frank will continue its slide (they have gone down in every book since their debut), and Nassau will have to sell The Bone to the God Squad and their growing network.
