It's the end of the road for "Passions" on NBC

On September 17th, we've already know where it's going... I ain't paying DirecTV to watch this, That leaves "Days of Our Lives" as the only dayimt show on The Peacock. Enjoy it while you can, This last show will end on a cliff-hanging note. Otherwise, It'll say "To Be Continued..." So there.

So then, will the all soap channel pick up reruns a year behind or something?
(a year from now) or what's the real deal with Passions?

I can't ever picture Dish just handing anything more current than that to them...if anything.

I believe "Passions" will be shown DirecTV 4X a week @2P Eastern/1P Central and it will run Mon-Thurs. Also a mini-marathon will be shown on Saturdays. Between now & then, viewers can always rush to the nearest big toy store (Like Best Buy) and try to get the sattelite kit. Oh, one more thing-you won't find "Passions" on Dish-TV.

I've never thought there was any 'real deal' with that show since it replaced Another World in 1999, but oh well, JMO I guess...

The excuse-for-a-soap actually was shown in reruns for a while on Sci-Fi channel, but the ratings were supposedly just as bad or worse than the show's original airings, and the Sci-Fi run was later quietly dropped. SoapNet has never shown any desire (that I've heard) to want to rerun it as they have with Ryan's Hope, Port Charles, and (until last April,) AW.

They should have never cancelled Another World.

But then.. NBC has been wallowing in disaster for years during the daytime, and this is just the sad, final result of years and years of either neglect, interference, micromanaging, or any combination of the above by the network suits.

In 2009, they already plan to drop Days of our Lives, and NBC will give the afternoons completely to its affiliates.

2009?
From what I understand, it could end sooner, should NBC decide ratings are not where they *should* be.

However, if it's too costly to pay off early termination of contracts, I guess Days will still be around until 2009 anyway.

(Isn't it sort of like trying to get out of a cell phone contract?)

Here's another factor to consider: CBS & ABC are STILL daytime powerhouses. With "Passions" gone, and "Days" have been outnumbered, NBC might join FOX as the only 2 Nets that doesn't carry any daytime programming-at all. "Days" might go to FOX beyond 2009, because that soap is owned & produced by Sony, NOT NBC.
