It's The Weather Channel's 30th Anniversary

First 18 years: yeah!
Next 8 years: OK...
Last 4 years: blech!

That is the channel's history in twelve words.

Now if they could bring back Dave Schwartz, and the WeatherSTAR 4000 nationwide, as well as cancel any weather or non-weather reality show [except filler Storm Stories and some recent weather specials], I'd be happy and I'd come back to TWC. Right now, not so much...

I suppose we should thank our lucky stars that they haven't brought back "Weather And A Movie"... ::)

They'll likely do that as soon as Weather On The 8's gets cancelled

Ohh wait.....That would defeat the whole purpose of the channel to begin with, wouldn't it?

Can't wait for WeatherScan to swallow it. At least WeatherScan ACTUALLY has THE WEATHER on it even while TWC is off in the wild blue yonder that is Reality TV ;D

JMO.....

Cheers :)

I agree and disagree. The first few years were full of technical bloopers, and staff making fun of the station overnight. It was a joke in the early years. Then it got good. And I agree, the last few years it has become a joke again. (Although when they hunker down for real storm coverage, they do well). The weather stories and docs don't add much, IMO. I'm sure TWC will tell you these shows are working, as they keep viewers longer. But isn't TWC really a cume-driven format? On the other hand, there are so many apps for weather today, TWC is probably not relevant at the end of the day. Why would anyone in Oregon care about what is happening in Georgia?

I used to enjoy TWC when it was actually weather, and not reality TV. But alas, as most networks have done, they've headed down the reality path never to return. When they do actually go live, they seem like they are there to babysit the old folks now like Good Morning America, or the Today show.
