Yeah, I figure many Chicagoans would have a different opinion on that. Whatever that case may be, it's reasonable to think that stations that are based in the 6 largest cities by population are more recognizable to people than stations in the rest of the country. Unless one is a broadcast TV junkie, he/she may not be aware of where a WHAG or a KUON would be, let alone what networks they're affiliated with. An exception would be if they have call letters that can let people figure out the geographical location, ex. KING, which identifies a station based in Seattle. It's easier to figure out where a WABC or a KNBC (obvious, because the call letters are associated readily with the network by name) is located in.

I have known about WGN being that they air Cubs games (note: I don't follow that team) and the Cubs have a massive following throughout the country. That and the annoying Harry Carey.
