It's Time

Dave "Kidd Kraddick" Cradick passed away nearly eight and a half years ago.

It's time to retire his good name from the morning show brand and let it rest in peace.

It's time to let the current cast fully build out their own brands and statures away from his giant shadow.

It's time for Kiss to freshen up their own morning branding with something that it is more current than someone who has been gone for the better part of a decade.

I was a long time listener (even back before it was syndicated), and I miss hearing Kidd's voice and laughing at his jokes, but he's been honored well and his legacy can continue to be honored best by the fantastic Kidd's Kids charity he started.

Retiring his name from the daily show will finally provide room and distance everyone needs to fully heal and appreciate his real legacy.

Keep in mind that Kidd started this show, and also started the company that owns the show: YEA Networks. So Kidd's estate controls the copyright and what the show is called, not KISS. The show is still a huge success, and apparently the audience doesn't care what the name of the show is. Kidd's heirs will say when it's time to retire the name, not anyone else. It's a great brand, in the same way as Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest is a great brand. Dick died in 2012, Kidd in 2013. Dick's former company owns that name, and his son actually works there. They will continue the New Year's show again this year.

It's a bit odd, but honestly doesn't matter. If his family is fine with it and wants it that way, that's up to them. If the stations are fine with it and it's working for them, great. I'm sure at some point it will change, but I don't think we're there yet.
