Its too quiet

Man...it sure has been quiet on this board as of late. For ages people begged for a State College/Altoona thread and now we have it and its sitting nearly dormant. Could it be that all these companies and their rules and regs have squelched people's voices? Or is is with one company pretty much ruling the roost there is just nothing to talk about?

Book kicks off again very soon....anyone have much to say or predict? Do you think Forever will hold on to its position with all the stations, or will we see some slip?

I have heard no BUZZ news lately...how is the move to State College coming?

Anyone...anything! Its too quiet

Actually, this board was pretty much exclusively Harrisburg until about a year ago . When Radio-Info first came on the scene, a board for PA did not exist outside of Philladelphia. Then came "Central PA." For the first, almost 2 years, that I was posting here, this board was nothing but Harrisburg posts. This was before KISS-FM even signed on the air.

I can understand how the Harrisburg people may scoff at the State College posters a bit for claiming this board as theirs because it was truely grounded in market 77.

As of late, nothing exciting has happened in Harrisburg and State College has gone through many changes. Where else are State College people going to post? I venture to guess that things will calm down in State College in the next 6 - 12 months and when the 'burg hits another wave of change (it is coming) this board will be more focused on "south central PA".

Until then, if you post about wanting another board, it will be deleted. If you post repeatedly, we will ban you from Radio-Info. This board is for discussion about RADIO (not radio-info). If you have a problem with Radio-Info and have a suggestion or comment, there is a board for that: http://www.radio-info.com/mods/posts?Board=askus

> Well, it's quiet because maybe people are focussing on the fall flawed book, because as a consumer of radio advertising, which i believe you have mentioned you are, many are pulling back big time. If you don't think this Katrina mess (and another Hurricane is brewing off of Florida) isn't going to cripple the economy especially here in the energy dependent northeast you are not being realistic.
No matter who has what part of the market pie....the dollars filling the pie are rapidly disappearing. We all know the sales addage, the last thing you cut should be the advertising-however it is the first thing that is cut because it is usually the largest on demand expense of any entity outside of the cost of its supplies. Advertisers who bought 4 or 5 stations deep may only buy 2 or 3 deep......everyone better have their best game on this fall and holiday season-if you don't it may be a bitter cold winter. Every contest better hit the mark, and every promotional dollar should be directed to tried and true events that execute the basics and bring results. There is great talent in the market.
So find that hail mary pass or 100 mph fastball and be ready to use it. This might be the biggest game you might need to win to move forward. Have a positive weekend. Adams

My vote is for an ALL HITMAN board - the one and only true voice of our radio airwaves. Please call Radio and Records and Joel Denver and insist on weekly columns.
