It's true. Body is confirmed to be Mike Webb.

KOMO News reports

SEATTLE -- The sister of Mike Webb on Friday confirmed to KOMO that the body found under a tarp inside a Queen Anne home is that of former KIRO radio personality Mike Webb.

Hmmm first gets busted for Insurance Fraud.... Now we learn it was common knowledge he carried a gun for protection everyplace he went because he was scared for his safety.... Now he winds up murdered and stuffed in a crawl space.... It could be an episode of the Soprano's if you did not know the truth....

Seriously though you have to wonder what kind of people he got himself mixed up with and what is ultimately behind this murder? Obviously there will remain questions from now unti the person or persons responsible are brought to justice...

Do you trust an insurance company? Just a thought. Personally I wouldn't purchase a policy unless it was forced upon me. My car and home are insured.

By all accounts Webb had a pretty good career. He programmed stations and entered the medium as a young teen in a large, influential market near his hometown in the Bay Area.

When I hear that Mr. Webb somehow had certain failings I start to cringe a bit. Here's a guy who spent over a decade on a very high profile outlet only to be let go because he was "accused". You only had to listen to Dore Monson as the story broke to get a sense of what really played out when Webb lost his gig. Lets just say Dore, and KIRO, didn't really like the guy much.

I'll give some props to Monson however. He probably knew that he was the last guy on air who should be handling a breaking story concerning an ex-colleague who was found stuffed in a crawl space in his own home. It was compelling just to listen to Monsons tone and inflections. And it's noted that KIRO couldn't get anyone on his show, such as a relative or friend, to offer content yesterday.

Radio is a tough business.

Slick, was wondering when we'd finally get around to this. Entercom was pretty quick to dump the guy when he was merely "accused". I believe he was gone even prior to his arraignment. Not even given a suspension pending trial outcome. What happend to innocent till proven guilty?

I know Mike could be a bit of "an itch" in the hallway. Wonder what the real back story was?

Stabbed & Dumped in Crawl Space

Webb's body was found Thursday hidden in a crawl space of his Queen Anne neighborhood home, and it was identified Friday by the King County Medical Examiner's Office. Though the remains were badly decayed -- Webb had been missing for two months -- investigators were able to determine he'd been stabbed repeatedly by his killer.

Police declined to release many details on the investigation, describing the inquiry as "active and ongoing."

"Innocent until proven guilty" is still there, in courts of law, where it belongs, and not in employment, where it does not. Washington is an "at will" employment state. You can be fired for any reason or no reason, and this is as it should be.

But maybe Entercom had a reason other than the insurance fraud case; maybe he was fired because the auto accident occurred during his show, when Entercom had a right to assume he would be in or near the studio, and not out driving around the city in search of munchies?

I have refrained from commenting on this for a number of days now, because Mike was not only a friend, but influential in my career. But this ain't about me.

Nobody, despite their perceived shortcomings, deserve to die like Mike did. Though I have not had any contact with Mike for atleast 15 years, I still find this deeply disturbing.

I'm not sure I have a point with this post, just sad that it turned out the way it did. Mike, R.I.P.

You did very good, both in what you said and how you said it.

Just a quick addition to your post, searadiofreak. I was programming an oldies/adult standards stations in another market in the early 90's. I am from Seattle, knew what KIXI was doing and called Mike at the time he was PD there. He didn't know me from Adam, yet spent over 45 minutes on the phone talking formatics, giving me ideas and feedback on what my station was doing at the time and things about KIXI's music rotation. Long story short, our station did extremely well in succeeding books. Much of the credit goes to Mike Webb.
Regardless of what has transpired since, including, of course, the manner in which he left us, I will never forget his generosity with his valuable time, knowledge and kindness. May Mike R.I.P.
