JD Barber, who ruled the Madison morning airwaves during the 1980s and early 1990s, died Friday of a heart attack at his home in Middleton. He was 65.
Barber, whose real name was Edward P. Tisdale, first came to Madison in 1969 as a disc jockey at WISM radio. He stayed for a year, then went to Two Rivers doing music, morning humor and sports play-by-play. He returned to Madison in 1980 with Z104 and within a year, his morning show topped the ratings.
