J M McCoy in trouble again

Insiders at Citadel in Des Moines report that J Michael McCoy assaulted his PD in the hall at work yesterday. No known injuries but the PD reportedly has refused to work again with McCoy and J Michael has, apparently, been suspended but NOT terminated.

Anybody know any more?

Wow, radio is a passionate business huh?
Possibly the PD was loaded with a stack of holiday tunes and headed for the studio...I have witnessed first hand what that can resort to.

Possibly a ratings stunt?
I too am interested in learning more!

Another interesting McCoy story...

He called and made threats towards a big Cididel advertisers this past summer. He claimed the owner of the company in question had spread un-true rumours about him and threatened legal action (when in actuality nobody could care less about him at the company and has no reason to )...

Okay, it's time to stop with the speculation and get down to business. I heard this straight from one of their big wigs so this is all fact:

This is definitley not a ratings stunt.

It is a fact that J Michael McCoy got into an arguement with his program director and got agressive toward him, including physical contact, which is assault.

My source told me that the reason McCoy hasn't been on the air as of late is because they gave him a 3 day suspension without pay. Geez, way to stick it to him for assaulting his own PD!

My source also told me that the program director for KWQW didn't agree with the 3 day suspension descision and wanted McCoy fired. Can you blame him? The program director, who's name escapes me right now, said that they either fire McCoy or he will leave.

My source told me that the program director quit on Wednesday. So, I'm assuming, they picked McCoy, who obviously has an anger management issue, over their program director. I heard that he was also the program director of that 1700 AM station that Citadel owns. It kind of makes you wonder about management practices there.

Of course, no one will ever hear what I've just told you, which is the plain and simple truth.

So I guess if you work for Citadel and want your program director to resign or get fired, just assault him or her and the uppers will take your side and not your boss's.

Why do they keep this clown? He thinks he's god's gift to radio and nothing can happen to him. Well, I guess this proves nothing can happen to him. Good job McCoy! [EDIT] McCoy is an idiot and should be banned from radio. Everyone should boycott his show!

[EDIT--vulgarity]

Hey, thanks for the info, that is a shame, however I have seen similar
situations. I can think of 2 stations right away,
a station in Mason City and a station in CR that currently
both have BIG name guys currently facing legal problems for not being able to control their behavior and
yet they are still onboard their radio stations. Ya wonder how many times it will have to occur or what serious damage they will have to cause before they realize, BIG NAMES are not everything. Besides we all know how one Corporation just hires replacements and makes them use the same name so the morning show name remains the same....rather insulting to the listener if ya ask me.
How many "Harry Bears" can one zoo house?
I guess it beats having to buy a new jingle package.
