J-NIICE IN THE CARIBBEAN

I was in George Town on Grand Cayman Island last Tuesday morning, and while shopping in a downtowne jewelry store they were playing 'X-107.1' - 'Cayman's # 1 Hit Music Station'. The morning show host was none other than 'J-NIICE'. He sounded just like Y-100's 'J-NIICE', and he may be one in the same - or probably not. I think there may actually be a bunch of different 'J-NIICE' characters floating around FM hit music radio nowadays. Anyway this particular 'J-NIICE' played a pretty good mix of the current hit music of the day with some amusing chit-chat with his fellow co-hosts. It was fun to listen to for the few minutes that I was browsing the store.

Actually, you were indeed hearing the one and same J-NIICE! He's been doing that gig on X-107.1 for a while now (how long I'm not exactly sure). It's listed on his show's site.

Hey Josh !

I guess I shouldn't have doubted myself. I knew he sounded just like Y-100's J-NIICE, but I was only in that jewelry store for a quick few minutes so I wasn't 100% sure.

I just checked out his Myspace site, and he does indeed state that he does both shows. But my question now is which station is voice-tracking ? Is J-NIICE on Grand Cayman Island doing the show LIVE and in-person in the morning, or is he right here en Miami doing the show LIVE and in-person at night ? Nevertheless he is one busy dude with two cool gigs mon !

I wonder if any other popular U.S. deejays have gigs in other foreign countries in the Caribbean or beyond ?

I'm not sure... I was wondering the same thing. When he was doing nights up in Cleveland, I couldn't tell either. I didn't see anything on his site about local appearances in either locale at that point. Now, however, he does make mention of doing high school appearances (which wouldn't be too bad if he's on Grand Cayman... kinda a short plane hop) and he's got a page in the works on club appearances as well, so I'm guessing he's here in the States.

Either way, I'd love to have that gig!

I'm not much of a globe-trotter (or island-hopper) - although I have been doing that a lot recently. I'd rather be in one place. I think the ultimate radio announcing gig would be one where I could do so from the comfort of my own home. It may sound funny at first, but there are apparently some big-time radio jocks out there that are doing just that - broadcasting their shows from their own home ! I think I read that the Saturday night edition of "Open House Party" may even be done that way.

J-Niice is live and local based in Miami at Y-100. Prior to that he was live and local in Cleveland, both Clear Channel stations. He is voicetracked from Miami to X107 in Grand Cayman. I worked with him a bit, and he was a genuinely nice guy to have on a station!
 
Yeah, I believe Garabedian does the Saturday night OHP show from his home. I'd love to do that myself! I actually meant I'd love to do shows for both Miami and Grand Cayman.

Jack, is he tracked or is he live on Grand Cayman? I can imagine it wouldn't be too terribly hard to do a live link... and certain elements of his show definitely are better live.
