J.T. gone MIX 97.1 MORNING SHOW

As of today, 97.1 decided to make a change in the morning show and they've hired Alan Kabel.

Alan has worked most recently as a syndicated nationwide talent for Jones network. Prior to that he was a morning show host at KDMX (Mix) in Dallas, Texas. He has also worked in Chicago, Minneapolis and Denver. Kate Burdett and Matt will be staying on with the show.

Alan is going to start sometime in November. In the meantime,97.1 will be going to an all music format, breaking for news and traffic only. 97.1 will cover sponsorships via recorded tags.

Very interesting, if they've hired Kabel. Kabel's quite a heavy-hitter for Columbus. But given how much he moves around (whether for ratings issues or some other reason(s)), I wonder how long he'll be here.

When Shawn Ireland left 93.3, I suspected she might end up replacing JT. Guess the timing was just a coincidence, as she landed at Sunny. Nothing against Kabel (he does a good show), but I wonder if Ireland's Columbus history might have made her a better choice. OTOH, Kabel is a more seasoned big-market vet with a lot of CHR and Hot AC experience.<P ID="signature">______________

I heard they approached Shawn about the morning show at 97.1 before she signed with Sunny.... obviously it didn't go through.
