J.T. The Brick's Biggest Affiliate, WEEI....Now For One Hour!

Inside Radio interviews John "JT The Brick" Tournour (for some odd reason the quotation marks and
apostrophes show up as question marks when viewed on Firefox, but not on I.E.)

http://www.insideradio.com/pdheadlines.asp?phid=240153&PT=Today's+Top+Stories

note:
"My largest affiliate is WEEI/Boston which is a massive station, so I read The Boston Globe and The Boston Herald every day.”
Massive indeed though fans of JT and Tom "Pop Looney" Looney only get to hear the show for
one hour these days. Oopsie. Lately on MOST nights, "The Little Show" has extended local
sports talk until 1 am--Red Sox talk, that is.

JT fans can hear that midnight to 1 am hour though via WBAL in Baltimore, 1090.
Poor JT; first the Yanks lose 5 out of 6 to our Sox, and now he's lost half his show (most nights)
on his "biggest station". Butchie From Yankee Heaven shakes his head...

Note: also, see the picture in the article and check out the resemblance J.T. has to a certain US president who was born in New Haven
but once owned a baseball team in Texas. "My fellow 'mericans, we are here to talk about
nuke-u-lar power..."

Sometimes I tune in if the Sox beat the Yanks to see what he or the callers will say though usually it's along the lines of "You got us now but watch out: our pitching will bounce back and we'll win the division", etc.

Speaking of WBAL (I mentioned they are carrying JT's mid-1 am hour) I mentioned how WHFS-FM in suburban Baltimore was now carrying them instead of WBAL. Thanks to the fact that companies like CBS aren't opting to pay big money to carry teams --plus some teams may want to move to FM--you have some traditional homes
for baseball games going by the wayside (DX recep is prob. going to make it tougher to pick up those stations anyway what with IBlOCk...):
WBAL Baltimore no longer has the Orioles
KDKA Pittsburgh (which I can get sometimes despite the proximity to WBZ) no longer has the Pirates
KMOX St. Louis no longer has the Cards

But Washington Post Radio, WTWP 1500 (actually owned by Bonneville) does Nationals games and I believe
they re-run them at midnight. You still do have some powerhouse stations like WFAN (Mets) and
WCBS (Yanks); WTAM in Cle. (when they're not doing a Cavs playoff game, it's the "Tribe")...

WPHT (50 kw) still has the Phillies. It's a CBS station. And, of course, WTIC just re-signed with the Red Sox (thank God!). But you're right, there are fewer and fewer out there. It seems to help when the team itself is a big draw - though that doesn't explain the loss of the Cards.

Ah right, those are 2 CBS stations that stuck with their teams, etc.

Sometimes it's interesting to go around the dial at night and pick up broadcasts...
It was nice when I drove to Chicago years ago and as I went through PA, OH, IN, etc. I could
pick up several broadcasts on a Sunday afternoon: Cubs, White Sox, Tigers, Indians, Pirates, Reds, etc

JT The Brick stinks on ice, if i can use such harsh words. For all the baseball fans, I know there is nothing like picking up an AM signal from god knows where, but XM has all the home team local broadcasts.... in digital.
