J93 moving.... why?

Just heard that J93 will be moving their studios from Peachtree City up Hwy. 54 into Tyrone near the new Legacy Theater. Anyone have any inside info as to why?

I wonder why too!
Watkins owns the shopping center they are currently located in(at least I think they do)and it is located at a very convenient area. Maybe there is potential for higher rent at the current location.
Rick Davison did mention the possibility of using the theater for live music - I'm not sure if he was just thinking out loud or if it is really in the works.
I would think that a weekend show featuring live music from the hundreds of local "praise" bands could be the grassworks effort needed for J93 to re-invigorate growth. I know they don't have the staff necessary to go into the larger Atlanta churches and "work the crowd" but I have always thought that, considering the format, you have to work the local church angle hard.
And I don't use "work the angle" in a derogatory way - J93's ownership and management are sincere and consider their work a ministry. You know.....even Jesus understood the value of "showbiz"....that's what the miracles were all about. Live and local.....dazzle the audience with showbiz and they'll love ya' forever.........

I love the music at J-93.3, but the signal isn't as strong in Gwinnett. Their music is better than what I hear at The Fish (same 10 songs). I can listen to J loud and clear on the home radio (with a great antenna), but on the car radio it is in and out with the rock station in Greenville. With two or three other options to listen to, it's easy to change stations to the clearest signal. This is also a problem for advertisers. I would love to hear a Christian Hip Hop/Alternative format on one of these signals. J experiments with this on the weekends and Victory 91.5 has CHR and Alternative Saturday night. I've heard this music on the new 90.5 translator in eastern Gwinnett at night also. "Alive 93 Atlanta's rock and hip hop station" could gain non-Christian listeners and do well. I remember the days before Victory fired everyone not in the family and the shows were live, with callers. They had endless callers, including some from places where I didn't think anyone could receive the weak 91.5 signal.
