Mainly, Variety Hits stations tend to be a shade or two harder and more current than what Magic is. Between it and Point, Birmingham doesn't have a niche for a Variety Hits station, and as two of the three major companies in town haven't jumped on the bandwagon anywhere and CC hasn't seriously embraced it, I doubt we'll ever see one here.
Laser 101 in Montgomery is the closest Alabama gets to having one, IMO. It at least should be on Lou's "Close but not Quite" list.
