JACK being programmed out of Dallas/Fort Worth

Infinity's first JACK station started in Dallas/Fort Worth (Market #5) months ago and to date they are still jockless. www.jackontheweb.com It seems to be working for them though.

From AllAccess:

INFINITY is so serious about the JACK-FM format that President/Programming ROB BARNETT has announced that INFINITY/DALLAS VP/Programming KURT JOHNSON has been appointed VP/JACK Programming. JOHNSON will keep his DALLAS VP duties which include being PD at KJKK (JACK-FM) and Smooth Jazz KOAI.

BARNETT said, "As PD of our first JACK station, KURT has been instrumental in the format's adoption at several INFINITY stations across the country. He has successfully guided KJKK to a position of leadership in the market where it now ranks among the most listened stations in DALLAS. KURT's first-hand experience will be invaluable to INFINITY as we continue to evolve our eight JACK stations."

I personally think he'll be relieved of the KOAI duties to focus full-time on the "Jack" stations.

Again quoting All Access:

Infinity will have lot more "Jack" stations than just eight. I'm even beginning to think Infinity will launch "Jack" even in markets where other broadcasters have launched "Jack"-type clones.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I THOUGHT IT WAS AN IPOD!!!!!!, next you'll tell me there's no Santa Clause, Easter Bunny, and the Lee Harvey Oswald didn't work alone!

I'm sure for the first few/days weeks of the format's implementation it was preprogrammed elsewhere, but to think that will be the long-term case is foolish.

Every Jack is customized for its market and will take on the sound of its market.

Kurt Johnson is now the Infinity VP responsible for how the programming on each Jack takes shape.

I know many of you are upset over the loss of Oldies, but to nitpick any little thing that can be construed as negative is going to be counter-productive.<P ID="signature">______________
