JACK FM 103.7 MUSIC

After a few days of listening to Jack FM I'm beginning to really like the way they sound. I have heard very little repetition on the station and I like that. Not sure how big their playlist is, but it certainly appears to be larger than the other classic hit music stations in Houston like the Arrow, and the Point. And even though it has no DJ's that certainly doesn't bother me. Hopefully this station might make other Houston radio expand their playlists to be bigger.

the only bad thing is the SIGNAL, its a rim-shot and I cannot hear it in the office in SW Houston. Its sad that they call theirselves a Houston station and the transmitter is much closer to the Beaumont/Port Arthur area.

Isn't it generally the same with all format switches... Play a huge playlist at first to get people hooked, then tighten it down to your best 200-300 songs after that? In other words, enjoy the variety while you can, if you can pick up the station at all.

One wonders if this time they might stick with a long playlist for competitive purposes. Or perhaps force other stations to play more variety. Man cannot live alone on just 280 songs!

too bad that Jack fm didnt go to the 95.7 frequency, now that would have been a smart move. Too late now

That isn't a problem with this station. JACKs have a library of thousands of songs...and play them!

I always thought that 103.7 had the much superior signal than 97.5. I also think that 103.7 covers more of the populated areas than 97.5 living in the swamps of Winnie.

The two towers are only 5 miles or so apart....on I10 you can see both as you get toward Winnie...103.7 north and 97.5 south.....But that is enough distance to make the 103.7 signal cover slightly better (they have same antenna, etc..both built to the same specs). 103.7 is NW of Winnie off FM1410.

I stand corrected....after checking on Delorme, the two Cumulus towers are more like 13-15miles apart..

Thanks for going out and measuring this. I was losing sleep not knowing where the sub - par Houston signal strength towers are!
