Cumulus doesn't do HD2's. Again.

You obviously haven't heard KPLX-HD2 or KDBN-HD2 in Dallas.

We're in Houston, son. When in Houston, all references "Cumulus" should be taken as "Cumulus - Houston" unless noted otherwise. Thanks for being hypercritical.

Go ahead and admit it, son. You had no clue. What you wrote (then wrote again, for emphasis I guess) would lead anyone to believe Cumulus doesn't do HD2 anywhere. Not true.

Obviously this board is read by people outside Houston. There have already been posts about Jack's streaming efforts by people outta town.

I don't go to the New York board, commenting on Z100 Portland.

I don't blame you. That would be pretty dumb.

You said Cumulus, a nationwide broadcasting company, doesn't do HD2. I might believe your explanation if you hadn't said it again in response to someone suggesting it be added to KRBE. That guy knows there isn't a KRBE-HD2 now, and would like HD2 to be added to KRBE with Jack on it. Not a bad idea actually. But hey, who really cares? Someone got something wrong on a gossip board. Shocker!

The point of posting it again, since obviously that bothers you, was because KRBE is Cumulus as well, and Cumulus... *HOUSTON* doesn't do HD2. Happy?

Check your ego.

Hey, check yours. You brought the ego into it son. Generally, people only use that word when they're talking down to someone or think they're schooling them.

Whats up with them two ^ ::)

I know I know Cumulus dosent multicast and I know this is sot of an engineering question, but could KRBE have HD-2 Jack and map it to a "virtual" 103.7, much like on HDTV where a station may be on over the air channel 56 but maps to say Channel 10 since thats their analog assignment. This would avoid confusion of having to say "103.7 Jack Fm and 104.1 HD-2 Digital Jack FM".

If Cumulus ***HOUSTON*** decided to do HD2's, then yeah, it could be on 104.1 HD2.

But they wouldn't have to ID like that, so it'd still be "103.7 Jack FM", much like how CC's Mega 101 HD2 is 740 KTRH.

So, could it happen? Yes.

YET! All it takes it is time and more money.....Once you have HD up, HD-2 is not that hard to do

Cant "map" it...HDTV did it for the consumer so they wouldnt get lost in the HD transition....In the PSIP info in the digital stream is where the channel ID is sent that shows say 8.1 even though you are actually watch RF TV 9.....and the TV shows that because it decodes it...it KNOWS it is RF 9 but it displays 8.1
on Radio HD, (HD does not mean High Def in radio btw...it is Hybrid Digital for those who still think HD always means High Def), they could show it in the RDS on the HD-2....so if you go to 104.1 HD-2, it would show JACKFM or 103 7 JACK FM..or nothing!!! Depends what they program in the stream....but there is no way to map from 103.7 to 104.1HD-2...
the RECEIVERs would need that....and they dont have it like HDTVs
