Jack FM Houston

What a great event having Jack take up residence in Houston. This may be the best thing for that frequency. The music variety is what most want in a radio station. It is not the same One Hundred Fifty songs over & over.
If this does work it will be the comeback of Houston radio history. Honestly it has a great chance of making a stand in the ratings.

We will have to see if Jack will get Jane FM at 97.5? That would be a nice duo for such troubled stations.

Well I dont listen to that station all I listen too is Banda and tejano and regional mexicano. But If you are happy then im happy, anything that helps houstons radio market makes me happy. ;)

So Houston finally gets Jack! Dang finally a station, but to bad the signal isnt is good as it should. I can hardly pick up KIOL, or whatever they will change the calls to, maybe I might be able to get the HD signal. To bad it couldnt be moved closer to Houston!

The ice-cream eating, hot dog eating, stuffing your face with cake eating, licking your fingers eating, banana-split face stuffing... GM of the CBS cluster blew it! Jack FM in Dallas is kicking butt in the 25-54 demo and it's a CBS station. The cake stuffing CBS GM in Houston is sitting on a blow torch and no one is listening.

Jack FM Houston should be on 95.7.

CBS missed their opportunity to have Jack in Houston, following their success in Dallas.

The Wave could morph into the hated Movin' format. Things could be worse.

I like to see CBS & Cumulus swap stations: Cumulus would get 95.7 for Jack-FM, and CBS would get 103.7 for The Wave. Sounds like a fair deal. I believe the Movin' format is like 10 times worst than (Your Name Here)-FM.

Sounds like a fair deal???? Not at all! The Wave doesn't barely get ratings on it's city grade signal... a move to 103.7 would be a 0

Maybe Cumulus should just buy the CBS Houston cluster. CBS doesn't seem to want to be in radio anymore and it would be a good fit as a cluster.

No, it should be the other way around. So far, Cumulus has not done anything good. Everyone likes Jack, but everybody changes their mind later on when the station starts to show itself. Kinda like when Cumulus brought Rock 103.7, everyone praised the station, but then, everyone complained about it because it was not programmed correctly. Cumulus has yet to prove itself as a good company that broadcasts good quality music and/or News. At least CBS has been able to keep its stations performing well most of the time. Well just have to wait to see if JACK hits the JACKpot.

Regardless of who's "good" Cumulus is acquiring stations and CBS is divesting them. Given the right offer, CBS would be out of the radio business just like ABC.

Think it can't happen? Who thought Citadel would end up buying ABC?

You guys are hoping for a CBS/Cumulus swap? Or Cumulus to get a hold of the CBS properties altogether? I shudder to think what would be if Cumulus were in charge of more citygrade Houston stations..."95.7 Jack FM...ok..Hey maybe we could try FM News Channel again, 100.3 has a great signal, you know that's the only reason it failed last time ;). La Gran D 610 y 97.5! We own a station at 650? Did anyone turn on the transmitter this morning??"

Think about what you're saying!!! CBS may not be great, but it ain't Cumulus.

The thought that I can't help but have is this. Does anyone else see a meeting taking place in Atlanta where the following words were spoken. "Look... what format can we put on in Houston that would allow us to eliminate a staff and be able to run totally out of here?" I can't stand the station, but I also don't think it's programmed for me so my opinion on the format is meaningless. I just can't help but think that Cumulus was simply trying to find a way to kill off the staff and raise the bottom line.

I think Clear Channel will also be cutting more on air staff. They are all about elimination of the employee. I see a day very soon when the radio station will be about the Imager. The issue is will Jack make any friends and rack up a real crowd? PPM is in thier favor. It is almost a sure thing that Jack is going to have an effect on jobs in the Houston market.

On the same note it is a well put together format. If you want alot of selection in music with some stuff you have not heard before or for a long time Jack is your station.

One cool thing is you do not have any traffic reports that are awful and mostly wrong anyway. Yes let me say one of the worst I have ever heard is Sara on the NO GO MOJO in morning drive. The lady screws up every sentence and has no clue what she is talking about.

Houston let's face it traffic always sucks here deal with it!

How long do you folks on here need to realize the above IS the reason companies own radio stations??? The above says it all.....IT IS THE Money they make...period.....yes cutting staff is one way..so is selling more spots.
Lets talk numbers:
Cumulus paid $32 mill or so to Ben Amato for 103.7....then had to lease land (for who knows how much), buy equipment (new transmitters, antennas, rigid feedline, etc) then build a new tower.....and install other EXPENSIVE equipment...
so after all said and done, they spent ~ $50 mill on the station.....and they WANT a return on their investment....
So if going JACK means more money in their cash flow, then fine....QUIT UR B*TCHING and if YOU have 50 million or so lying around, you can build a station (Maybe) and program it the way YOU want and show everyone how much you THINK you know about the radio biz.....YES there are idiots out there.....I have worked for some of them...but they still make money and they DONT care about outside opinions..

CW, you missed my point. Relax. I fully understand what this business is about. Cumulus is a bad comapny to work for... I've seen many of my friends get blown out. People with actual talent that went on to bigger and better things. They overpaid for the signal. It's almost offensive that they call it a Houston radio station, but that's besides the point. My point was Cumulus is the cheapest company I've ever seen... and I've worked for a lot of them.

please no! i can pick up 103.7 but not 95.7. i am in livingston louisiana. and can almost always pick up 103.7 jackfm! this is good for me. i like the jack format. its about the only fm format i like ;D

Yep, I find myself listening more and more to Jack and less and less of KKRW and KHPT. Those stations are just way too limited now.

BOB FM 105.3 can be heard in N. Houston, too, and will be heard even better when it's new tower is complete.
"Turn your KNOB to BOB!"...
