Jack FM in NYC fliiping back to former format...

I get the impression from reading the Variety Hits forum here that the format is a package that stations subscribe to. The NY station must have decided not to renew its subscription. Bad news for the company that sells the subscriptions, but not likely to have any effect in other markets. Besides, another station in NYC could pick up the format.

I think one of the bigest problems with Jacks is that people want to hear DJ's also, most Jack stations has no djs.

Any DJs ego would certainly think that. But we tend to forget being just an everyday average listener. Hearing DJs ISNT something listeners "want" to hear. They dont tune in for us, they tune in to the music. Jocks have a problem with Jacks being jockless. That would open dozens of jobs across the country. Listeners could care less if the station is jockless. Most likely, they dont even notice.

...will this affect any JACK FMs across the US, including San Antonio's JACK?

It's all about the PPM in NY, and the decison seems to have been based on the WOGL results with its classic hits format in Philly, the first PPM market.

Austin and SA will not have the PPM until 2010, so decisions based on the optimum format for a new metric will not be made for some time.

You also have to remember that BMP Radio owns Jack in S.A. And by hearing the diaster they've done with KTFM and the rest of the cluster. Don't look for anything to happen Jack.

Count on change from BMP... with new president Jeff Hinson.

We can only hope. BMP Radio has the potential to do so much more here in S.A.

Agreed. Key word being POTENTIAL. Who knows? What do you guys think will happen when it comes to the fate of Jack SA?

Like possibly new DJ's???

If you go to the WCBSfm web site, the GM is on there talking about how they would still get calls from angry listeners, two years after they blew up WCBS for Jack.

One of the best moves is live and local on-air personalities on CBSfm.
