Jack FM is here in Jacksonville

Re: No more Magic

The handwriting was on the wall when they fired their entire live and local air staff! Magic 107-3 has disappeared! Jacksonville, once again, no longer has a true Classic Hits station!

Re: No more Magic

Heck, I thought 107.3 was still Planet. I'm falling behind on what's happening on the east side.

"East Side of the Panhandle"... you know the east side gets dark earlier than the west side of north Florida. Does that mean the "East side" is the "Dark side"?

man, I gotta stop posting on these boards. I'm too bored to be funny.

107.3 flipped to Jack FM ealier today. No more Oldies in Jax...... ;D
Wonder if they will truly play "anything we want?"

nope...it's "Playing What WE Want"...as in what the station wants to play...
does Jacksonville really want another station playing the GoGos, Santana, Smashmouth, Cheap Trick? it's the POINT all over again..in 2012.
disappointing. BRING BACK THE OLDIES!!

Your post is just another reason why the Panhandle markets and the much larger Jacksonville metro and Northeast Florida stations should be on separate boards. These markets, while they're both in "North Florida" are more than 300 miles apart! As an example, putting West Palm Beach and Miami-Ft. Lauderdale together DOES make sense, since they share signals, and, while they are separate radio markets, there IS a geographic and commercial synergy in Southeast Florida. And, to return to the main topic, Magic 107-3 was blown up today to make way for Jack FM. I would guess they will probably be jockless. CC management will love this!

thats bad..will anyone listen to this...this market is saturated with rock and country...and Top 40.

For a radio market the size of Jacksonville, the lack of commercial format variety is truly shameful! ???

Their numbers weren't THAT bad. Not surprising, but I don't know if Jack-FM will do better than even a voicetracked classic hits format.

Unlikely scenerio here, but what if Renda tried classic hits on 100.7 (I know it was tried before, but barely lasted and was before PPM) and moved country legends to 94.1? Or just tried it on 94.1 (I think it'd need a bigger signal, though)? A classic hits station in their cluster would go well with WEJZ. In the end I think Renda would be better off and more successful with a Classic Hits station than a Classic Rock station. Their classic hits station in OKC is pretty good.

Magic's number were pretty good, but the fact that they didn't knock off The Eagle might have been a factor in their early demise. And, yes, I agree that Renda's 94.1 FM would be the most logical place for an Oldies/Classic Hits station. The big question is whether Renda would commit to making it work. I think it could be successful, even with the current 94.1 signal, if promoted and staffed correctly. ;)

I've been listening to this for a little over an hour and...I like it. I've even heard Kings Of Leon and Paper Tongues. I'm glad it's not the same old 80' & 90's repeats ad-nauseum!

I'm guessing CC thinks Jack-FM could impact The Eagle more than Magic did. Honestly, I don't see how there is really any room for Classic Rock 94.1 between Jack and Eagle now.

Would be cool if Renda tried to get the ex-Magic personalities and do classic hits.

This sucks, this was my grandmothers favorite station when she lived in Jacksonville. It was mine too when driving through Jacksonville. Magic 107.3 had flavor the Eagle didn't have, so C.C thinks they can compete with the Eagle by acting like the Eagle. Same Music, Same Jock-less format and all .

Magic and Eagle aren't the same at all. Magic was 60's-80's Oldies and Eagle is the classic hits minus disko from the 70's, soul, etc.
I stil maintain that Classic Hits shouldn't be say WOCL and the Eagle in Jacksonville. The formats are totaly diferent IMO.

However with playing the right music this might be a good opportunity for Adult Hits to thrive in Jacksonville. Given they play different music than the Eagle and 94.1.
