The most successful Jack in the US is probably KCBS-FM in LA. In the last 7 days, they played about 825 different titles, with the most plays being 5 (only 10 songs) and the rest playing between 1 and 4 times in the week.

How often do they change the weekly rotation? How many total songs do they play in a month, say? Do the same 845 play all month? I thought the idea was to always have tons of songs rotating so that it stayed fresh...

Very little difference from week to week. The library looks to be in the 900 son vicinity, with nearly everything playing at least once a week up to five times a week. 900 is a huge library.

I admit that I don't listen to Houston Jack that much. My question is, does this station run the "funny" Jack one liners in between songs like other Jack stations? I'm sure they do some, but it seems like most of it is used for station promotions.

If you have an IPOD you will NEVER listen to Jack. Only problem for me: I only have 550 songs on my IPOD. Should I listen to Jack? Are you kidding! The format was created to combat the IPOD and deliver a station to the IPODless. The 550 songs I have are MY songs, not what some lame PD picked for me.

Bottom-line, the format is a loser just as is the rest of FM compared to IPODs and Satellite radio; both of which will kill FM as we know it today.

I have 5400 songs on my iPod so that's like having SIX Jacks in one!   That includes UK's Jack FM (which I enjoy over the American Jack).

I like the BBC 3.
Is there a Jack for that?
Could they stick some of the same selections on Houston's Jack?
