JACK-FM Summer Tour 2007

When was the last time a radio format sponsored a rock and roll tour? It pretty much works out that if there is a JACK in your town (or should have been in the case of Detroit)...there's a JACK-FM tour coming to you.

Pollstar.com:
They Know Jack!

ZZ Top, The Pretenders and the Stray Cats will hit the road together this summer for a tour in affiliation with Jack FM radio stations.

Don Henley, REO Speedwagon, Joan Jett and Gin Blossoms will join the tour for selected dates.

The tour kicks off July 19 at Toyota Park in Chicago and will make stops in markets around the U.S. and Canada, including Baltimore, Atlantic City, San Antonio, Detroit, St. Louis, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Las Vegas, Denver, San Diego, Vancouver and Seattle.

Pre-sale tickets for some dates, along with VIP packages are available to members of ZZ Top's fan club through the band's web site. Tickets for the tour are also available through Ticketmaster.

I've heard that! ;D

I'll be watching the show at Jones Beach here on Long Island (about 10 minutes away from where The Stray Cats grew up in Massapequa) it should be one hell of a show. I was invited see the show at the GM Place in Vancouver on September 23rd...but I have a problem with the li'l old band from Texas being called "Zed Zed Top"! ::)

Reading Is FUNdamental, kids!

Let's see what ol' Jack said: "...It pretty much works out that if there is a JACK in your town (or should have been in the case of Detroit)...there's a JACK-FM tour coming to you."

OK, maybe I should have added "...or should have been AS in the case of Detroit...", but the quote/joke stands as is.

I checked on Ticketmaster.com, the promoters aren't stupid...in St. Louis the ZZ Top, Pretenders & Stray Cats show is billed as "106.5 the Arch High School Reunion" and the "Detroit" show - actually Sterling Heights, MI - is shown in small type as "MGM GRAND DETROIT PRESENTS 93.1 DOUG-FEST" but you have to dig for it.

Jack fm in Baltimore has already sponsored 1 concert. It was an 80s fest on 6/1/07, featuring Scandal, Eddie Money & Rick Springfield. I went to the concert and while there was given a flyer for the ZZtop show you speak of, later this summer.
