Jack FM to hit the road?

Maybe not for now, but would you think CBS Radio may thinking of flipping Jack FM? Sister 100.5 Jack FM Las Vegas is flipping to a simulcast of KXNT soon. KNX on FM maybe?

No! I would hope CBS would think of resurrecting FM Talk on that dial than go all news.

I took a fast look at the rating books on this one...
In Las Vegas, KKJJ (Jack FM) has a lower rating (2.3) than KXNT (2.5). This would lead to the logic that Jack FM is not doing as well in that market and a cndidate for a blow up/switch. In LA though, KCBS FM (Jack FM) has a higher rating (3.2) than KNX (2.3). Also, in LA, Jack FM is #11 in the ratings in a very niche oriented market. I do not see CBS Radio throwing in the towel on Jack FM in La anytime soon.

I agree. They will definitely not be changing this one. It averages around 4th in 25-54 in the LA books (remembering that in PPM there is often very little difference between, let's say, 4th and 6th or 5th and 3rd) which means that this will be an absolute top biller with reasonable costs of operation.

You mean flip one of the ten highest billing stations in the US?

If CBS flipped anything, assuming they want to, it would be the underperformer, KTWV.

Hasn't KTWV's ratings improved? Why are we still calling 94.7 an underperformer?

It has improved a little, but not significantly.

It is the low biller and low ranker in ratings of the cluster.

This entire thread is beyond ridiculous. JACK in Las Vegas has nothing to do with Los Angeles. Are people that bored that they need to create stupid idiotic threads? Sorry, I usually try to encourage good spirited discussion but this was nonsense.

Companies make decisions based on local market needs. Univision blew up "Recuerdo" in Vegas a few weeks back - doesn't mean they would do it to the successful L.A. version.

Yeah because, kicking around old format changes from 1965, and the history of call letters are better discussions?

Hey, this board (in its earliest conception) was based on bad posts about dance returning to the 103.1 frequency after it had failed miserably as Groove Radio. These posts went on for years. "it just wasn't executed properly", "it had more listeners than Arbitron gave them credit for", "If it was only on a signal like KIIS-FM", "It would be different next time, just look at Wild in SF", "Dance should be replaced on Country (fill in the blank station)"and on and on.

Believe me, it could be a lot worse.

Those are pretty bad I agree - but how does a format change to a low rated Las Vegas have ANYTHING to do with a top billing, top rated L.A. station?

Not to mention the "smooth jazz" format (if KTWV can even be considered that today) is dying nationwide. Ohio just lost its' last SAJ station, Columbus' WJZA-FM, late last week in favor of an 80s-exclusive classic hits format.

I'm guessing you are the one who pulled the plug on Jack in Vegas? (i'm kidding, but you do sound a bit defensive) And besides what else is there to talk about on Obama's birthday? Uhhhh ..... besides the obvious?

Jack in Vegas is among the lower billers in that market. L.A. is among the top billers here. What does one have to do with another.

So, I guess if Clear Channel blows up Kiss in Louisville and changed it to "Now FM" they are going to change KIIS? What does one have to do with another. It was literally such a stupid thread it should have been deleted.
