JACK FM TSL DIPPING

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slight TSL Dip Seen
At 'Jack'-Like Stations

Almost one in four listening to Adult Hits less
The latest research from Bridge President Dave Van Dyke shows "a slight fall-off" for Time Spent Listening for eclectic "Jack-FM"-like stations after roughly six months. Of the Adult Hits stations in the format for longer than 9 months — KBPA/Austin; KJKK/Dallas; KJAC/Ft. Collins-Denver; WWJK/Jackson, MS; KCJK/Kansas City; and KPKX/Phoenix — Bridge asked 1,500 listeners between the ages of 25 and 54 that considered those stations "the one they listen to the most" if they were listening to that station more, the same, or less than they were three months ago. Of those people, 67% said they were listening the same amount of time, while 23% said they were listening less.

To no one's great surprise, IMHO. I believe a quick demise of this fad was predicted by someone on this board not too long ago. Only more time will tell.

G-r-r-o-o-a-n-n!

Most "Jack"-type formats have only been on the air in their respective markets for just a few months.

Therefore, this survey doesn't mean much of anything.

But if these trends continue a year or two hence, then they will mean something.

remember

Remember all those stations that flipped to the "Mega" Format of the Late 90's
playing 70's r&b, how many of them were gone inside of two years about 97% of them.
The same thing will happen to Jack stations WHY? because all of the PD's who know how to turn a jukebox format into a station that will last were fired for budget cuts years ago

Yes sir, let it bleed til there's no blood left, give the fool who headed this debacle a promotion and then do something else just as silly. Great logic. Don't be proactive, be reactive. Profound!
