Jack-FM/WCBS Transition Ad

As you may have heard, 101.1 has been running an ad telling informing Jack listeners that they can still hear the format on HD, as well as their sister stations.

Why did they put so many messages in there? The only thing they should have tried to get across is that WCBS-FM returns to 101.1. Why did they throw all that stuff about K-Rock and Fresh at people at the end?

Even the parts in there about where Jack is going shouldn't have been in there...that stuff should be running on the air now, and that's it.

The only thing that promo should have had in it were song hooks and that WCBS-FM returns tomorrow at 1:01pm. They should know that the average non-radio person can't process/remember all that information when you throw it at 'em all at one time.

But, I give 'em props for at least trying to get the word out.

Quit you bitching. You're getting your [EDIT]station back. They probably did it to steer displaced listeners somewhere in the cluster. I would imagine that without that guidence, next stop for the avergae JACK listener would be WPLJ.

Quite right, Mellow Yellow... or as another poster put it, "corporate synergy".

Such bitterness! They're not giving "our station back" because they're feeling bad for us. They're giving the station back because radio "consultants" gave us the "New Coke" of the Radio world... a recipe no one asked for, no one liked, and were still angry with after 2 years. For 2 years we were being told "Go Away, You're no good, we dont want you." The snarky voice of Jack insulted us with taunts. Infinity/CBS tried to cram down NY's throat a cheap, insulting freak form of radio. We didn't go away. Instead, the listeners of CBS-FM swarmed like angry bees... and the buzz never died down. Eventually it drowned out Jack's lousy voice.

Sounds like the first couple of episodes or WKRP. :)

Classy response.

If they relaunch it, and nobody knows about it, it won't work.

With confusing marketing like the link above points to, few outside of the crowd of terrestrial radio enthusiasts will be aware of this happening. CBS needs to make it easy for everyone...regular, average people, hopefully some of whom have arbitron diaries, aware of the fact that the station's there, or people won't listen. And, if they, don't, then our [EDIT] as you so lovingly refer to it as, will be gone and something else will be there.

I'm sorry this is confusing for you.

You might be interested to know that there is a rumor out there which suggests at least one "consultant" offered CBS
data which indicated Jack couldn't work and wouldn't work before the station went on the air. Obviously, if true, the company allegedly ignored that information.
