JACK-FM

I have read all of the posts about the new Jack-FM with great and personal interest. It was also interesting to read the wide and diverse views everyone has.

I too agree that Rick Kelly is not only a tremendous talent but a personal CLASS ACT. I hope you all are right about Rick landing at a local station, teaming with someone, like Chad at Mix. The two of them would do well.

For the last two and a half years I have also learned a lot about and from Ty Sante. And it's all great. Ty has spent an enormous amount of time re-educaaating me about production and its techniques, having been out of the business for over twenty years. I sincerely appreciate his patience!

Ty is probably the hardest working radio pro in this or most other markets. His attention to the finest detail is, I suspect, unparralled. Ty would make a tremendous professor and has that nuturing quality too few of us possess.

I doubt the suggestions regarding voice tracking by Rick, Crig and myself are accurate. The Infinity stations dowing Jack (now nine, I believe) are all Jack all the time; although that could change, I guess.

It has been a great two and a half years working for Infinity and especially for Tom Humm. I always have and do appreciate his honesty and candor. When Tom tells you something, you can take it to the bank. You may not like, but you can count on it.

Eric (Tom) Wright

As the original "DJ" on KMZQ -- back on August 25, 1983, I have seen literally hundreds of on-air men and women come in and out of the door. So, I finally decided to get a screen name on here, and pass on some thoughts.

This "final" group of KMZQ Personalities are by far the best group of people I have worked with. Rick Kelly and I have been friends since the old KLSQ 95.5 days -- and he is a major talent. From interviewing Paul Simon on the phone, to Neil Sedaka in the studio, to introducing Firefall (yes, Firefall) on stage at Sparks in the Park, we have had some great radio memories. More importantly, in the world of "good guys" -- he is right on top. He is a true Nevada Broadcaster Hall of Famer.

I met Eric Wright almost 2 1/2 years ago -- on a Saturday afternoon in the Lite Studios. He came in with his dog. I really had to think twice about this hire by Craig Powers. But, as soon as I heard him do his first break, I knew CP got a seasoned broadcaster. When he took over afternoon at Lite, it was the perfect choice for an afternoon host. Eric and I had some great conversations about law, and about radio. Another "good guy".

I am lucky enough to continue working with Ty. Making commercials with him is like working with Michaelangelo. I am honored to say we have shared many local and national awards together, and I look forward to many more production sessions with him.

JACK is going to work, and I give CP and Tom Humm my total support. It was KMZQ that brought me to Las Vegas. I met my wife here, became a dad here, and have gotten many rewards, both professionally and personally. I made lifelong friends, many in the radio business. I could not be more thankful.

Signing on as Q-100 .. then into Klassy 100 (which we should have NEVER dropped) ... into Lite 100. It was a great ride. I hope the "Jack voice" will once again share the microphone, and allow local voices to add their mark to "Jack FM"
