Jack FM

Obviously according to ratings, 93.1 Jack FM is currently doing very well. Just a quick question: Are you folks (that live in Los Angeles and around the area) hearing it a lot around town such as in cars, offices, or stores? Do you hear friends or relatives listening? Just wondering. Thanks

I eat in a lot of "English as a second language" restuarants so I can't really comment on what is on the radio there.

However, it appears to me that KRTH is still the choice at most stores and KOST at businesses (particularly reception areas). Considering the comments pasted on their future...

The bigger chains Von's, Thrifty's, Stater Bros., etc. have their own network plugging the store specials between songs.

Also coming up seems to be satellite/cable delivered music (no announcers/no commericials). IsS Muzak still around?

No Jack that I have heard.

I agree with you. Whenever I tune in it's usually in the car. I haven't heard it in offices or other public places.
The opinion of friends of mine is that the curiosity factor of JACK has grown thin already. That's because the core playlist is still ARROW's classic rock. For the first month it was interesting to hear the " play what we want " deal, but not anymore. I agree with that too. Another disappointment is how they chop up some songs, i.e. Prince's Purple Rain and the Door's Light my Fire. ARROW used to play the full version of LMF.
JACK just isn't that great to hold my attention for very long. I prefer KLOS instead.
I don't know how true the spots are with people who like the classic rock mixed with pop songs are. I just know what I've been told.

Jack might not be the best station, but I would LOVE to have it at work!

We used to have Muzak at Ralphs which played a lot of the songs that Jack plays. Now we have the In-store Brodcasting that plays boring songs and they are the same songs over and over day after day...low budget and worse than even FM radio.

Sometimes I like the music that Food For Less and Vons plays, or used to play, mellow rock a la KNX-FM, rare stuff, album tracks, non-hits, I hadn't heard on any station since the demise of 93.1 FM. It added to a more pleasant shopping experience. As for JACK-FM, nobody in my office listens to it. The major choice seem to be KYSR- 98.7

Yet Jack is the first English language station in 7 years to take 25-54 persons.

This kind of post is a lot like the ones that pop up saying, "I have never been asked by Arbitron..."

KYSR-sounds like a lot of Anglo females from the west side.

You think? That was my point.

Next time, try saying so instead of shooting off a one line post that sounded, in the context of the thread, like sarcasm.
______________

Without a doubt...

Food 4 Less is playing the best Music in Southern California!

Oh yeah. I start to notice them sponsoring and showing up a lot more at events where in the past, Clear Channel stations would be present. And I just came back from NYC and saw that Jack FM has a HUGE presence there too.

They may have a huge presence in NYC, but the ratings aren't, at least right now. Hopefully, that'll change for the better.
______________
